Your forget that it is much cheaper to build games for the iPhone, regarding the way the developement platfom and distribution is handled. When I can get a descent DS game for 30€, I can expect to get the same game for 10€ on the iPhone.

@Dudehuge
You're probably right, that's the problem. While most PSP games are actually too expensive, the current price level on the App store is too low for real games. On the other hand distribution on the App store is cheaper than selling games for DS or PSP. So 25 - 30 $ should be about right.

@ Dudehuge:

You nailed it. For less than ten bucks, we cannot expect PSP or DS ports, rather pimped ports of mobile versions. That's less risk for companies like gameloft or EA, too.
But we'll definitively see more than these ports in the future, games like Kroll will prove that.
And if the base of iPhone gamers will grow constantly, game developers will probably try to find out how much they can charge for the games in the AppStore. In theory, a PSP port still should be a lot cheaper, as there's no disc or boxing material when sold thru the AppStore.

@Korb
They won't do PSP ports as they cannot sell it for the higher end price of 9.99. Someone first has to be successful in selling an app for more than that before they delve into it.

@Easy Writer
SimCity 3000 should be ported, I'll buy it in a heartbeat.

@isoSasquatch
Single or Two-Person indies can easily create it but they're too busy making Match 3, Pong, Snake, and Hangman clones then selling them, it's the legal version of theft.

If they basically did a straight-up port of SimCity 2000 to the iPhone I'd be happy. Because i'm with Korb -- the iPhone is definitely a portable platform, not a cell phone platform. Neutered games are BS.

I watched some of the footage at that linked you provided for need for speed. That's not how it's going to look on the iPhone, is it? Is that footage from a console version, or what we are actually going to see on the iPhone? If so, that's going to blow away even that asphalt game.

I'm psyched for Yahtzee Adventures, but I'm sure it'll be $9.99 like all these EA board game ports (aka too expensive for what it is). I'd rather see Fullpower release a Yahtzee clone (see: DooZee, Kismet) or even add it to MotionX Poker as a new game mode, since I doubt EA's dice physics will match MotionX's.

I'm really not excited about those EA games. These iPhone games are developed by the cell phone department of Electronic Arts. EA mobile isn't the department that produces PSP games, though. I don't want cell phone ports. If you port, please port from the Playstation Portable, the iPhone is definitely capable of that kind of games since it's even more powerful than the PSP.
