But it is very well done. Controls are great, graphics and music are great. :-)

Just wish it played a bit smoother.

Didn't play the first version... This version is still pretty darn slow. It is playable but loses a lot of the fast rolling fun of the console versions.

I think it needs a lot more optimization and polish... Many games have shown that we can expect better performance out of the iPhone than this.

@DA360,

That's a good find!
I wonder if all these iphone game ports are being developed by the same teams who worked on other Japanese cellphones in the past...

Yea, I love this game series and I loved the idea of it coming to iPhone but like most, held off on getting it because of the reports of horrible performance and control issues. I've seen none of this ever since they updated it, the game is very fun and a must have if your a fan of the series. I've been playing this game for awhile now and I love it, only quirk is the game does go slow when it does the transition effect as your katamari grows but that's about it.

While looking up stuff about what the update did, I actually found out that this game actually came out about a year ago in Japan on NCC DoCoMo Mitsubishi cell phone's (came preinstalled on these phones, its just called Katamari Damasy Mobile in Japan, which is also what this version is called in Japan as well). From watching afew videos, it seems like that version of the game seems to go no faster than 15-10fps, though naturally the iPhone is FAR more powerful. So yes, it has afew performance quirks still but it shows it could of been worse. The video of that Mitsubishi phone version is here if you wanted to look at it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMl9XVZVhTQ
