I dig it...I agree they should have spent more time with the framerate but swipe works fine for me, so not sure what that's about. And the core game play is there...which is what I love about the game. Having it on my phone has me stoked, in spite of the fact that it's not perfect. If you like PQ you should buy this.

I agree with BrianB. Whoever gave the thumbs up to green light this release, should really be doing something else with their efforts. It is so obviously due to trying to catch the christmas spending period. These issues in the game don't break the game per se, but they are really distracting. To me anyway. And just when you manage to put it all out of your head, the music changes 5 times in the span of 5 seconds. Ugggh!!

I've been waiting for this for some time now. But since all they're offering is a $10 glorified demo of a botched port, I guess my dollars will stay firmly in my wallet.

Actually, you do get the new classes right from the start, so it should be reasonably safe to assume that the complete game will have the content of the original game plus expansion. Which is a lot of content and endlessly replayable.

However, as ideal a fit as this title is for the iphone, the port is rather sloppily put together. Frame rate is inexplicably unstable, and all screens are blurry, even the intro screen. Which is a shame, as the art may be derivative, but it is attractive enough. This has an effect on the gameplay as well, as it takes a lot of squinting to figure out exactly your mana reserves, as well as your opponent's. On top of that, I couldn't find a way to check status effects (sure, I'm blind, but what does it mean?) and opponent's equipment, something that is definitely possible in other versions. For those players who haven't memorized the entire game, this makes planning your strategy slightly more difficult.

Despite all that, the original design is so solid and the gameplay so deep and interesting, that the game is still one of the best offerings on iPhone in my book. The controls are OK, even though the lack of a zooming function makes selection a bit fiddly. It's still a fantastic game, and it's still a purchase that I recommend, as it features all the fixes and rebalancing that couldn't be implemented in the DS version (and by extension to the PSP one). Even if it is technically inferior, I find the concept of having PQ on my phone rather irresistible. Battery use is decent as well.

yeah the frame rate sucks. But I think it is still pretty enjoyable. and there is still the hope that they can resolve some code via updates.

The good news:

Their web site is now active with a support link.

Support replied to me within eight hours and said "we'll definitely put text readability onto our shortlist for our first update."

iTunes granted the refund immediately.

I'm going to delete the game and will re-buy it if they announce an update with improved readability. I tried to play again tonight and it's almost painful to read the tiny type. Maybe if I wasn't a PQ newbie it wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, I was really hanging out for this as well. I've only ever played the PC demo (which was great), so I was looking forward to playing this on my iPhone.

But it is obviously a pretty rushed port - they have done the bare minimum to port a version that is obviously for a larger system (PC maybe?) and it has left the graphics pretty crap and the UI abysmal. It's really fricking hard to read anything.

Orions has a much better UI and graphics.
