[...] Early last year Namco released Time Crisis Strike [$4.99], an iPhone version of their Time Crisis series that has been extremely popular in arcades and on home consoles for the past decade and a half. The game is an on-rails shooter that utilizes a unique (at the time) cover mechanic that allows you to lie in wait for the most opportune time to pop out and take shots at the enemy. The Time Crisis games are certainly fun, but the iPhone version lost much of the magic in its transition to the touch screen. What really makes Time Crisis enjoyable is actually aiming a light gun at the screen and reacting quickly to shoot at enemies while strategically taking cover when you needed to by stepping down on a pedal built into the arcade cabinet. Lacking these two key elements, Time Crisis Strike lost a lot of its appeal on the iPhone, which we explained in our review. [...]

It's a decent game, but not for $5.99. The graphics are average at best..and you can play through the thing in 20 minutes,

[...] As you can see, the play mechanics of Time Crisis are intact, but here’s the thing: you’re not holding a gun in your hand. You don’t feel the mechanical kickback that makes Time Crisis so fun, and you’re not pulling a trigger or busting a virtual cap gangster-style. You’re just touching the screen — a reasonable facsimile but not convincing when it comes to fun factor. crunchgear419:http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/02/05/time-crisis-for-the-iphone-looks-shooty/SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Time Crisis for the iPhone looks shooty", url: "http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/02/05/time-crisis-for-the-iphone-looks-shooty/" }); Previous Post [...]

After buying Katamari from the app store I'll never trust namco again. First of all the game was unplayable for weeks until they updated it. Second, the game is way too short, not worth more than three bucks.

Buggy games that get beat in less than an hour make for a very passionately non-repeat customer.
