I'm just glad to see a racing sim coming to the app store. Can't wait to play it! I'll reserve judgement on it until then, but it does look good so far.

I would also give it a wait-and-see. It is very promising and for the hardware platform now, it should give Fastlane! some really good competition, which translates to something good for us customers.

Hey, Touch Arcade is very popular site and it is not surprising to find gamers who don't just play Playstation GT series, but more realistic / hardcore sim like GPL. And they can be demanding. :)

The lack of damage model is a bit let down but understandable. Personally, I would love to see real cars, but well, we may leave it for the Premium Store.

This game looks great and really promising. I really hope they will also add the Pole Position method of control, where one of the options is a horizontal bar for steering. To me, that is still by far the best way to control a racing game. I've grown a real dislike to tilt controls. Controls make or break a game like this I think.

Also re graphics:

"What you are probably seeing is the broken level of detail system. The system is supposed to use low level of detail for cars in the distance and high level of detail for those that are close up. At the time we made the video it was not working, so all the AI cars are using lower level of detail models.

Actually now that I look again, this is all too clear in the main screenshot that was shown where an AI car is overtaking you and they are using a lower LOD."

The last interview commenters were way overly critical. Anyways having said that. Cant wait. I love Grid on pc and play that every day so i was always waiting for a more realistic racer.

And about rear wheel drive, most racing games i have played have done the same thing. Front wheel drive cars have less a predictable drift as do rear wheel drive cars not to mention effectively less racing prowess in the first place.

Anyways when i drive my front wheel car i am force to correct weight shifts by using either left foot braking(with throttle) or the handbrake. In this way i can shift from an understeer to neutral steer or all the way to oversteer. But this is hard to implement in game(or should i say perform).
But i would love if you can use throttle and gas at the same time.

As with all iphone driving games, the tilt steering method will be fundamentally flawed. Whats worse is this is supposed to be a sim which means you should follow a proper racing line. Good luck with that.

As always, wait to play to judge. Screenshots and video only give a hint of what a game looks like, but cannot replace the real thing, in your hands (or TV screen) as you play.

Looking forward to this one.
