I dunno, but it looks kinda slow to me except for the boosts... was hoping for something faster and crazier like the zone mode in wipeout

WipeOut was a PlayStation title. It's been mostly PS exclusive. ..WipeOut 1 made it to the PC too, but it didn't use 3d hardware at all, so I'd stick with the PlayStation versions. :)

..Oh yeah, there was a version of WipeOut for the Nintendo64. I almost forgot about that one. But there was something about the feel of the digital controls of the PS1 version. I didn't think the N64 version was quite as good. It might be available on the Wii Virtual console though.

F-Zero was Nintendo's equivalent game on their systems ..but a different-feeling game. Many more ships and wider tracks ..feels more chaotic. WipeOut was more about being at one with the curves of the track. :)

As for playing them on the PC, I found a good PSX emulator and disc-images of WipeOut were the way to do it. (I got the original CD's ..but for some reason they ran much better under emulation when I ripped them to .bin and .cue files. ..and a .sub file in the case of WipeOut3, which had particularly funky protection.) ..Can't remember if WipeOut64 played well on the Project64 N64 emulator.

Finally you mention F-Zero.

... I'll have to check out the Wipeout series though, never even heard of it before... can I get it on Steam or the Wii's virtual console? (Or is there by chance already a Wipeout for the iPhone?)
