Played it. It's no Uniwar. First of all, though they say it's coming, right now there's no multiplayer. Fine. But what is totally unacceptable for this type of game is a total lack of unit stats. There's no way to know what kind of strength or abilities the enemy units have. How can you possibly come up with any kind of strategy when you don't know the relative strengths of the units? Ridiculous!

My initial impressions of this game were not favorable. It looks good but the colors are very 'magenta' looking. Also, I was a bit baffled with the interface.

But after spending a couple of hours with it I find it to be a challenging (but not overly so) game that is well balanced and fun. I was afraid it would be insufferable like Advance Wars (Nintendo DS), which has these long, convoluted conversations and is too much for a little device.

Instead, things are relatively streamlined in Mecho Wars, and though missions can take 10+ minutes to complete, the game play is compelling and well done. It isn't perfect but it's very good.

What about multiplayer? Single player is fine but a game like this is begging for a multiplayer mode, and Uniwar, while great, really needs some competition.

Someone really should create a historical turn-based strategy game, such as WW2 or Napoleonics or Ancient history. I'd buy any of those.
