Just have to say: I'm a Dr. Awesome fan. The controls feel just right. The most precise control I've felt from the accelerometer. (But you do have to hold the iPhone level.)

They are simply trying to avoid market cannibalism. If they keep Rolando 1 on the AppStore at half the price of Rolando 2, people will just continue buying #1 and wait for #2's price to drop.
One possible strategy is to have a mega-sale and then remove it from the AppStore, another possible strategy is pricing Rolando 1 and 2 at the same price so people go for the newest entry in the series.
I think they should lower the price of #1 for some time in order to study the market. If they see that Rolando 1 is, indeed, driving down the sales of Rolando 2, they should just take it out.
Ngmoco is a company and, as one, needs to think about money or they risk going bankrupt. iPhone game development is a new business and risks can't be taken lightly.
