I have enjoyed the genre of 3D space combat since I first fired up "Star Raiders" on my old Atari 400 computer back in the 1980s.
There are several space dogfighter games for the iDevice that I've tried, and "StarPagga" is my favorite. It has just the right balance of complex gameplay with simple controls. The graphics are very good, and the sound effects and music are fine as well.
I highly recommend checking it out: the Lite version even has five missions so you can get a good feel for this game before spending a measly $2 for the full version.
P.S. I wondered what the heck 'pagga' meant, and I searched through the urban dictionary; apparently it's British slang for a street brawl.

Congratulations! I see Apple's decided that your game's now "new & noteworthy" - very well deserved.

This is just a guess, but are you still on the level select screen? Are there any buttons on the screen for you to press? Like "Boot Camp - Tutorial" or anything?

I gave this a try thanks to the review, and while th graphics and features seem nicely done, the actual flying-in-space part just doesn't feel right: it's like you're ship is stationary, and you spin a weirdly distorted universe around you. Shouldn't it feel like F.A.S.T. in space?

We increased the world size for version 1.1 and most people seemed to be happy with the changes. We'll increase them again a little bit more for v1.3 then, but we're worried that people will end up too far apart and the game will lose it's sense of urgency.

We're playing this as I checked TA and saw the article lol.
I just request, I believe as Albie stated in a forum or his review, and the dev responded, that they fix the feeling of running into walls or no hight/depth. You just feel like you're flying in a petri dish.

Update: Tried a couple of missions. Nice! I like this one. Good feel to the game. I don't entirely agree with the font-choice, and the enemy-strength guages are a little hard to see at times, but the UI is great in all other respects. Sky/stars box looks a little, um, boxy too. But those are the only things I can fault. The visual effects are great, especially the explosions. (Never object to taking instruction from a cute female either.) :D

Ah, this sounds just like what I need. I'm downloading it now. I have Galaxy on Fire too, and it's been on my phone ever since it came out. I just never found time to get into it. Hopefully things will be different with this game.

I'm another one who has totally been missing the Space games on mainstream platforms. Stupid publishers. How can they let an entire genre like that die? It's not like text adventures where technology has pushed it into a niche tiny enough for them to ignore. Amazing stuff like Battlestar and Star Trek are being re-imagined, and nothing decent is being programmed to capitalize in it. (mutters in frustration.)
