Still waiting for William's Pinball HOF. It's graphics aren't that complex on the Wii, to where they can't make a decent version for the iPhone/iTouch.

It doesn't matter real or unreal pinball, people love remakes and old things, because they like to remember again his childhood by touching these things...the memory ;)

just a little tip for everyone that has no option to play a real table and wants pinball that is close to reality:try visual pinball on your pc...it surely takes a little time to set it up,it is a little more to do then hit "install" and you can start BUT nearly every real table can be played with original dot matrix, original sound and original flash light arrays cause visual pinball uses the real ROMs of the real tables. play 2 or 3 famous pinball tables on visual pinball and you will laugh at the iPhone pinball games+you can play tables from all decades.

and i recommend every pinball freak to get a real table if you have the space for it-nothing beats a real machine, you can feel the soul of pinball on a real machine, when i play my twilight zone machine i feel like a little kid in the candy shop just looking at this majestic table, the flashing lights, the sound that really bangs you,the cool dot matrix,ah,its so great. real emotions only exist on real machines :-)

Since you need a little hand-holding: I'll give you a half-assed run down of part of the flaws in The Deep (since it's their most recent attempt at a good game). You have to do more than graphics and good physics.

Sunken Ship ramp sucks and does very little unless you have a mission to go there and even when you make it on the ship it doesn't do anything but add points...not collect letters to open up a new mission or extra ball, etc. not have the plungers do a mini-game via the dot matrix display...nothing just ding ding ding watch the score go up like it's a pinball game from the 30s.

The ramp that goes to the treasure box? NOTHING unless you have the box opened. That's really dumb, especially since you can get up there so easily. It should be doing something alternatively while you work on that box.

They re-use those little circles for the 3 target drop lights with no cool theme or purpose (in most cases).

The upper area doesn't do squat if you have a current mission except get the lady to bitch at you if you tap the mission pad again (thank god for the patch to shut her up).

The lanes next to the flippers, both in and out don't have the staple mission of collecting lights for a bonus, and what's even more boring is that they just reused the catch from WWP for the left side.

The game is awesome if it was just a video demo of what they would accomplish graphically and with physics...could have saved them a lot of time not bothering with voiceovers and coding what little gameplay they did. Then you go on to secretly make the real game...one that has a ton to do and still looks good.

Another baseless comment from svolskiy...the only person who attempts to defend the low quality of pinball games on this device and does it so poorly.

He's absolutely right. Just LOOK at the play field of nearly any pinball game that has a dot-matrix display, or hell, at least half of the old school ones...there's a crap ton more lights on the field showing a massive number of options for completing stuff. In most of these games, all the drop light targets are very bland and rarely accomplish anything besides just adding some points. Most ramps are often just as dead until you "unlock" it's ability to accomplish part of a mission.

You can have a 1/3 of the graphics these guys have and still do SOOOO much better with a more fun game board. Crystal Caliburn looks like the first promising title so I am crossing my fingers. But "pretty" alone does not sell a game, and that's all these really are. They are at best an homage to really really old pinball games where very little was going on in the field. I'd like to see something more modern (within 20 years of gamefield design too much?) from all these developers.

If an 8-bit system can do an ugly version of a popular table and be considered a really fun game, surely we can see better than an 8-bit pinball game that's just as fun. I don't care if the graphics are so good that I can somehow see my own reflection in the ball...the gameplay is dull and you spend most of your time having only one meaning spot on the board to aim for at a given time. Where as many others a lot of alternatives if you chose not to go for the "main mission" as simply have a ton more lights/target sequences to complete.

Oh and the coup-de-grace...Pin*Bot was on the NES and is 100x better than any of these boards as far as gameplay (graphics are reasonably a different beast for an 8-bit) :)
