Love this game! It's not easy and involves both logic (strategy) and dexterity as well as a bit of luck. I bought it after reading some of the accolades in the forum. Up there with Edge IMHO.

It's just not a pure logic puzzle game. Levels like "Prom Night" do not require logic skills, but strategy and dexterity. With the right strategy it's a very easy level. Being fast also helps a lot. It is possible to skip levels you don't like as Ynth & Ynth Lite unlock the two next levels once you finish a level.

I've got to agree with a Oneiromancer. After playing through the lite version I couldn't help but hate the game. You can't have randomness like this in a logic puzzle game. It is just too frustrating to get near the end of a level and then lose because of something you could not avoid. This was especially frustrating on the last level. That level is completely based on luck, no puzzle/logic aspect involved. It's like if you were playing tetris and you were about to clear four lines but at the last minute a giant 50 squared block came down and caused you to lose the game. Then you try again and the same thing happens.

It's a shame because I actually think the game should have been awesome. I went in thinking I would never pay 4.99 for it but if they fix the falling things so its not so damn frustrating I would undoubtedly buy it. I'd suggest extending the time the leaves fall before the balls fall by several seconds and get rid of any levels similar to the last "prom night" level.

@Aaron Sullivan (in case the reply doesn't work):

I only dislike randomness in logic puzzle games. DROD, Sokoban, and similar games are not random at all. Chip's Challenge and Boulderdash only have minor randomness when you get to things like expanding slime. Action games and RPGs have randomness in them and I'm perfectly fine with that.

As for your other question, in Ynth you can indeed die from falling too far, and it does come into play in some levels. I thought that was fine, it made you think about which wall you used to make the next rotation. I guess I'm not viewing Ynth as a platformer but as a logic puzzler, which is why I don't mind dying from falling too far, once I determined exactly what that distance is (and there's enough of a grid to help you figure it out).

Aaron, what a silly question!

I mean, c'mon...don't you know by now that EVERYONE is entitled to EVERYTHING being a buck or "free"? ;)

Seriously, though...I, just like you, hate the attitude some have regarding price. It's $4.99 because that's the price at which the developer valued the game. There may be those willing to pay that price. The lite version makes it easier for some to swallow such a price if they enjoy the game. There are others who won't pay that price. They can be had later on in the product life cycle of the game when price drops make sense.
