As cool as this looks, it seems like the kind of game that will run like crap on my iPhone 3G.

Not my kind of game, but I do give Gameloft props for producing quality games (still play Hero of Sparta even after beating it many months ago)

I'm liking how Gameloft keeps pumping out these quality titles at the right price points but I really hope these games will be playable and available years from now. They dropped Platinum Sudoku as if it never existed and it's still my favorite Suduko game ever. I would have still had a copy of the game if I didn't reformat my hard drive :(

Runescape? I immediately thought of World of Warcraft, what with the shoulderpad armour and stuff. Cool nonetheless. First big budget 3D RPG in the app store?? :)

Not really the "First": Ravensword: The Fallen King would be the First if you had asked me i guess ;)

Runescape is One of the best RPGs besides the Baldurs Gate Franchise.

Yeah all the latest gameloft titles look pretty good, but they still seem to miss innovation, freshness, something never seen before. A very good xerox machine.

Eh...there's two sides to that coin, really.

I mean...at least Gameloft is doing something, and that something they're doing, while not as "innovative" as many of the indie releases at the very least is done with so high production values as to distinguish them from the rest of the store regardless of lack of "innovation" or "freshness".

IMHO Gameloft isn't a problem at all. They fill a niche on this platform, and while a very lucrative niche on this platform games like this are niche. IMHO, indie devs have little to worry about as games like this and that fighting game are not exactly what the mass audience on this platform play.

And, again, at least they're doing something, which is a helluva lot more than we can say for Sega, the true 800 lb. gorilla in the room that seems content to scratch themselves in a corner somewhere rather than throw their weight around.

I'm actually running MC: Sandstorm pretty smoothly on the first generation iPhone. It seems like 18-28 FPS, which is very smooth considering the fact it is the 2G iPhone that I didn't restore since upgrading to 3.0.

Really? It's gone? I still think that's the best Sudoko game. I even like the character-recognition option and all the non-Sudoku challenges mixed in. It's a shame if it's gone. But I still have mine, luckily!

Gameloft were among the first to realise the potential of the iPhone as a games system, and seem to put more money (and crucially, more thought) into their games than any other developer out there. I'm no hardcore gamer, but both in terms of pricing and quality, they remind me of the old 8-bit days of Codemasters and Ocean...i.e., if a game is by them, buy it.

...wish they'd hurry up and implement the DLC on Guitar Rock Tour 2 though!

Anyway, I expect I'll be picking this one up. I did get a couple of the early dungeon-based RPGs and found them lacking in depth and replay value.

Judging from the video, I think you can. Look at :16, the list of items on the lower left look like different clothes, which would be amazing. If they add mounts and loot to this game I will be sold! By the way, first thing this reminded me of was WoW also.

This looks awesome. I've been looking for a decent action rpg on the iPhone and one simply doesn't exist currently. They're either skill-deep and action poor, or action-deep with zero skill customization. This looks like it might fill the void. My only advice to them - focus on the gameplay, the skills, the fun-factor. Now, if I can have good graphics too, that's great, but I much prefer gameplay to graphics. I felt Hero of Sparta was lacking in that regard with it's great graphics, but not very fun gameplay and zero skill customization.

A huge number of people have been eagerly awaiting a good iPhone "Diablo ripoff." The gameplay video looks very promising, and it seems like this game is what I wish Underworlds had been. I bought Underworlds the first hour it came out, and I've been waiting (and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting) for Chapter 2 to come out. I bet Dungeon Hunter comes out before Chapter 2 even gets submitted.
