I once programmed a simplified version of Lumines for my Sony Clie (I *really* enjoyed playing it on a friend's PSP but I didn't have a PSP of my own) and it plays very well with a jog dial and swipe. In fact, swipe (with the Clie's stylus) was better than a D-pad and the jog dial was perfect. The iPhone doesn't have a jog dial, but I'm still optimistic about the controls.

I love lumines, but the "swipe" controls make me nervous. It is such a fast paced game at times, that an inaccurate control scheme could force you to lose. I am hoping for (maybe) multiple control styles such as swipe and d-pad or whatever.

Every month seems to be a great month for games and it's eventually going to be an issue. Are we always going to constantly buy all these great games and drain our wallets? Nintendo solved this problem back in the NES days by only releasing great games a few times a year and the lesser quality games would come out in between.

You know, I would have been excited for this, but I really love Tatomic. Not the same game of course, but I love the trigger block mechanic.. you can really get some incredible combos. I only wish Tatomic would adapt the same swiping control scheme - I think it works very well for Tetris.

Now, while Lumines is great, this opens the door for Meteos, which, if available for the iPhone, would steal quite a bit of my free time ;)
