I don't agree that the controls are terrible, they are just right (the only thing I would change is the position of the shotgun button, it's a bit hard to move fingers that far and fast while swinging!). I also love how the leaderboard is so easy to view, unlike all other games which mostly involve going to a website to see. The store is also a nice feature- fun and useless items indeed. Still would have payed £2 for it though. I got this a few days back for 59p and I'm really enjoying it. I find I constantly press my thumb or finger down to walk and nothing happens, so I have to lift my finger and tap it again to get moving, which costs precious seconds.
