'Speed Forge Extreme' - Upcoming Combat Racing Game

If there's one thing we seem to be suckers for here, it's futuristic combat racing.

I guess we've been spoiled by the Wipeouts (or F-Zeros) on previous platforms, but something about it seems so darn compelling. The latest announcement comes in the from of Speed Forge Extreme which promises a full featured game with impressive graphics and specific support for the iPhone 3GS:

16 maps
6 vehicles
realistic physics
beautiful graphics
special feature for iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G - full screen motion blur
weapons, shields, booster etc.

Still waiting for a proper WipeOut experience, so I will definitely try.
But the music in the video is strange somehow (fits more to riding dragons) And I hope, the motion blur won't look like in Asphalt 5, to me it makes that game very ugly, or at least give me the option to toggle it off.
Otherwise, looks stunning. Bring it on.

Hi,

there is a game "Speed Forge 3D" on android, but it is not the same. This one is better in a every single way, like better AI, more levels, (16 insted of 6), MUCH better graphics, handling, music.... Follow games web page for more details.

Oooooh! Pretty! ..That's a definite buy for me. I'm a sucker for future racers. So far Ground Effect has been the only good one IMHO. Love the motion-blur effect on the 3GS. (Though I'm wondering: does it affect battery much? Is it optional? ..I don't actually *have* a 3GS yet. Just asking out of curiosity.)

Motion blur is optional. You can turn it off and/or set it's intensity. It shouldn't affect battery life

Looks like we have the options to adjust/turn-off the blur (yay!) ..I kinda like the music. (Could take or leave the synth guitar tho.)

Yes, graphics is comparable. For android we are giving more settings, so players can adjust the game accordingly to the phone performance. We are not sure if there will be motion blur in first release, because there are no OpenGL ES 2.0 libraries in android official build.

Interesting. I've been actually strongly leaning toward doing a retro F-zero style combat racing game with my mode7 (that I used for Zombie Karts). Framerate looks a hair low on this one, but otherwise it looks great.

So, this game is entirely written in opengl 2 ES for the 3GS!

And what are the differences with opengl 1.1 version ? Only the motion blur ?

Doesn't look anything special, seems kind of slow paced and dull. I'm sick of all these Wipeout rip offs that are just poor, these devs need to put some time into better track design, where are some jumps or loops or something?
