PS
I heard people talking about the bug that when you fall you float down (or maybe it isnt a bug), I think that's great. It saves a lot of frustration! For example: the part were you have to climb the long stairs to the demon I fell a view times and I was so glad I didn't die and have to start over from town. If there is an update coming dont change that haha!
Nice review btw

Triela, I agree with most of your arguments, but most of all, what Ravensword fails to deliver for me is your last and most crucial point: GAME EXPERIENCE.

One hour after downloading it, I find myself still not enjoying the game - frustrated by the game's poor control system and other things that irk me - like reasonably good terrain graphics but butt-ugly characters and monsters. The main character seems poorly designed, there's something wrong with his proportions and the way he moves is unrealistic, and that bothers me because there is no attention to detail in this very important aspect - after all, you see this guy's butt all the time in 3rd person mode, and it should have been better designed.

Graphics for graphics' sake should never determine how good a game is - playability and enjoyment should.

I wish they'd spent time to make it more enjoyable. There are games like Samurai: WotW, Above and Beyond, and iBlast Moki, to name just three, where the game experience and balance is just right, and the action is so immersive that you are just drawn into the gameworld.

Ravensword does nothing of that kind to me, as I find myself trying to locate and then fight a monster, only to have the camera pointing in the wrong direction and then despite all attempts to improve the sensitivity, I still find this to be a major problem. After one hour of playing I still have difficulty moving the character to enter a door!

I only say that as you seem to talk a big game when it comes to creating and the procedures for games. The way that you are talking is as if you are drawing from experience from actually creating games. However, now I can see you are clearly not involved in that processes of any sort. My bad.

And yes, it might be a very tired line of "Lets see you do it". But it's still rings true into just about anything that goes on today. Put up or Shut up, is the slogan. Unfortunately it seems that you have boughten too much into the hype of the game and expected way more than you should have for a $7 game. See if you can get a refund from apple if this game has shot way below your expectations. Chances are that you won't though. But of course I just might be acting silly.

You are very silly. I am in total agreement about value: the game, as it already is, is worth $7. My point is that they could've taken the same amount of time and effort, with only a change in FOCUS from graphics to gameplay, to create a game worth $10 or more.

I, for one, hate the fact that developers are forced to consider 99 cent pricing regardless of game quality for the sake of their bottom line. I would love for more games to be sold for $10 or $20 (or more) if they constitute an excellent game experience.

This had the potential to be one of those standout games, and the disappointment is that it isn't.

And I can see how much you value intelligent consideration with the very tired "oh yeah? let's see you do it then!" line.

Ok, you have your opinion I suppose. There are mistakes, but again, Dollar value vs. quality of game, this is a bargain. That is what I'm talking about.

However, I do look forward to your perfect game that you are creating with your perfect "conceptual ingredients" all perfectly matched so you can wow us all for $7. So with that said, keep us a float on how your game is coming along!

This is frustrating. To generalize all the complaints about this game as only nitpicking is narrowminded.

It's about BALANCE and EXECUTION.

The developers could have put more effort into the logistics of gameplay and less work into minute graphic details. Guess what? If done with proper planning and execution, this could have resulted in a superior overall game, worth more retail money, with the same (or even smaller) amount of time and effort!

The apologists can't seem to allow for the possibility that better execution could have resulted in a better game by CUTTING OUT "look what I can do!" content for the sake of enhanced gameplay without further developer expense; this point holds true whether there were 2 people or 20 people working on it.

Please note that I didn't mention things like RPG, loot management or length of play hours in any of my comments. That's because regardless of whether this is or isn't an RPG, whether there is loot or not, whether it lasts one or ten hours, this could have (and should have) resulted in a better overall GAME EXPERIENCE based on the conceptual ingredients it began with.

I'd choose a perfectly executed cheeseburger each and every day of the week over a botched steak & lobster with blatant mistakes in flavor and preparation.
