So it seems there is allot of controversy over the role of SC2 on Ipad. It comes down to personal preference and I for one, I would like it. The divide in many respects is old peripherals (keyboard & mouse) v. new touch screen technology. Most people that think the game can’t be played on touch screens forget that we can simply restructure some of the environment to make it user friendly. Nothing is impossible.
I’m not a great hot key player, but I know that there are not a million units for each team, and the environment can be restructures with quick pop down menus, side hot keys (such as hero selects in frozen throne idle scv’s in SC2) or hot keys can be rendered obsolete by having a finger tap the mini-map more accurately. Alternatives are plentiful!
Ultimately, all I know is that on a touch screen, my productivity goes up and with 10 fingers to act as mice and hotkeys, I feel more confident laying down a ROFLPOON on other players.
It is a shame though that Blizzard is not sparing a small team of designers and software editors to reconfigure the Beta demo to the Ipad since it would open up such a large market sector (touch games) and could feasibly be undertaken in short order. Obviously Blizzard has dropped mad money on R&D-ing SC2 so I can’t foresee why they would not invest a little more in touch padding it since they know the future of gaming is on touch screens. with new devices such as SMART's technologies, there is no mistaking that old peripheral are going the way of the type writers and floppy discs so making the system both touch operated and verbally responsive is the only feasible means of staying competitive and cutting edge in the global games market.

The quality and execution of gameloft games is good, but far from excellent. The gulf between, say, gta cw and gameloft's gta clone is huge. The guf between dugeon hunter and diablo 1 (yes 1) is huge.
They produce polished, fairly entertaining games that are quickly forgotten.

Nowhere near the class of Blizzard.

But that is a very simple RTS, with small maps and few untis. And it'd still be much easier to play with a mouse and keyboard.

Not really. Unless there is a virtual keyboard in the RTS, hotkeys > poking around the screen for skills (since your hands won't move on a KB, just your fingers).
