If that's the criteria for a game to look good (if it looks better than something i can create) then every game ever made looks amazing , i must confess !!
I believe you don't criticize someone unless you are better at what you are criticizing them for. That's just how I see things. But you can recommend to fix this or add this instead of saying this is horrible. I hate when people criticize someone and that person is no where near on par with the person their criticizing. But that's how I see things and Yes, people are entitled to their own opinion. I think it is hurtful to people if you just blatantly insult their work
You don't understand at all. Reviewing is a hard job. Not just because you have to make it interesting to read, and make sure people are interested in what is critiqued, but because you may have to slander a game that has potentially been worked on for years with thousands of man-hours going into it on a monthly basis. It's not a nice job, because you're telling people they didn't do a good job at their job, as a part of your own occupation. Games like Alpha Protocol are difficult to criticize in this respect; it's a bad game, but there's so much effort in the world that it hurts to say that it is a bad game. However, movie games like Iron Man and Jumper: Griffin's Story are short, show bad game design, and really don't have any redeeming qualities. The developers put it out before it was finished, left it loaded with bugs they knew were present, and knew it would sell hundreds of thousands of copies anyways, just because it said "Iron Man" or "Jumper" on the front of it. Those games get torn apart by the reviewer, because they are a blatant cash-grab with little to no effort put into the game itself. But saying you can't review something because you don't work on it? Jesus man, that may just be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. That's like not being allowed to say a book in your book club is bad because you haven't written a book just like it. Don't even bother trying to justify your opinion, because everyone knows that it's a really stupid one. Roger Ebert would not have a career if people believed that.
Its ridiculous not thinking anyone can criticise things. Often criticism helps companies do better, some comments they may take on board and think 'hmmm yeah they had a point' and rectify that in an update. Other companies have small panels of people to come in and say what they like/dislike about the game. I used to get money for doing that, used to see adverts which were going to be on TV or new products going to supermarkets. Market research is very important, to ignore that is not a good idea. Of course it cant be nice having your game slated by someone, i come from an 'old skool' background where its all about gameplay to me, dont mind if graphics dont look great, i have to play the game first to really make an opinion instead of just 'looks crap'. But you cant be an artist, whether thats music/films or computer games without having a thick skin. Not everyone will like your work. We look at games from a user point of view, not a company production point of view. What you're saying doesnt make sense one bit. If a restaurant opened and the food was rubbish yet no one told the owner/chef then thats stupid, the restaurant then goes out of business as they dont have enough customers. If the chef/owner knew the food wasnt great they would change things, criticism can be good. So I cant slate Justin Bieber next as i'm not a recording artist ? Come on, thats utterly ridiculous. So unless we work in creating iOS games we're not allowed an opinion ? What a joke. From what i've seen i like the gameplay video, i like the graphics. I'm surprised some people are slating the graphics. The problem is if the graphics were of an even better quality these people would moan when the filesize goes up to 1.7 gig ! As long as the gameplay is perfect i dont mind if the graphics 'might' not be up to some peoples high opinion. You cant have it all. I play a lot of 80's video games, these kids will think the graphics look crap but the gameplay is still brilliant. I've seen a fair few games where the graphics look great (Eg Warm Gun) but the actual gameplay was terrible.
Looks like this game is making great progress. Will there be Killing Floor style classes and weapons?
I have to agree that unfortunately those graphics look worse than I was expecting, but this could be one bad part?? It's silly to say we can't criticise a game if we couldn't make it better. If Black Ops 2 on Xbox 360 was 2d and there was no multiplayer, and the graphics were rubbish, I wouldn't be able to make anything as good as that, but I'd still criticise everything about it, rightfully. Im comparing it to current games like dead trigger and mc3, whose graphics are in another generation compared to these unfortunately, I'm still going to buy this though
I don't see what all the fuss is about. The screens are perfectly fine, especially for an unfinished product. Chill out guys.
I haven't been on here in a while but looking forward to this game. It's on the instabuy list for me and if they lower the price a week later, I won't care. This looks like a more in depth zombie game which is what I prefer. Hope this is out by US thanksgiving. Good luck devs and if you need any beta testers, I'm available
When is this coming out? Is it going to be in the next month or so? It seems all we see is photos, which is good, but I would prefer a written update on the progress of the game
