I hope these micro transactions don't kill this game. At a premium price point, I don't expect to have to pay real money to get certain guns/ammo. Otherwise I'm so pumped for this.
From what I can gather, that won't be the case and will not be something to worry about. The iap are of a 'cheat' type nature if I recall info correctly.
Well, I'm a little bummed. They released the game on July 10th for approval. Now Wiki Game guides says it will be out in September. That will be 2 months since approval. I know that this isn't a normal review process. whatever that means? If it is a feature, does it have to take that much longer? Anyway the game looks good. I just thought it wouldn't be 2 months to be in the app store after review. I can't believe a demo version of forgotten memories will be out before infected wars. General, are you allowed to explain your review process? due to NDA's you might not. Regardless, I will be purchasing the game when it comes out.
I can understand the frustration but think of it this way, they are working on the first content update at the moment so we won't have too long to wait for that once its released and anything Apple related that is causing the delay (if I'm understanding the situation right) will only be good for the game publicity/featured wise which will be good for the dev, which in turn will be good for us as players as they will be in a position to add to it if it gets support. Frustration to wait, yes, but only a good thing in the long term.
Wait... The aiming seems like it has a bit of inertia. I never liked that in other games. Also, the shooting doesnt look satisfying with blood splatters only happening rarely.
The "rag-doll animation" when you shoot a zombie doesn't look so good. Don't like the payment model either... Not even sure if I'm looking forward to this anymore. I'm afraid that it's gonna have the same feel as shadowgun + dead trigger.
You may be right Rip, I really would like to play the Juicer class and hopefully won't have to wait to long. As far as the video goes. It looks good. I think it's a situation where they have shown us just a couple of levels and we really don't know the extent of gameplay. One thing this game has over Dead Trigger already is the music and feel of the game. I like the atmosphere, narration, background music. With Dead Trigger, I don't really like their choice of music. I do hope this has some extra features we are not seeing. Looks pretty straight forward ( but aren't all zombie games) I'll have to check out the video again for a better assessment. Overall I think the game looks very good though. I like it better than Dead Trigger already.
Yes, hopefully it won't be too much a grind because if you pay 7 bucks for an iOS game, the items should be geared toward what you earn during gameplay.
Okay, lets get ahead of a couple of things first. The payment system, other than the price of the app, haven't been confirmed or detailed fully yet. Lets not panic just yet. Just about everything on iOS has iap. That should be expected. If its not, you're on the wrong platform. The implications are that the iap are cheat type modes, nothing more and nothing required for gameplay and something only a certain number and type of people will actually get. What exactly they are is not clarified yet, but seriously, being uncomfortable with iap in a premium price game just means its time to give iOS up. Iap is ever present now. And just because they are there doesn't mean they are necessary or forced upon you. Which has been made very clear that they won't. Iap is here to stay, its about time people accepted that and accepted the point that they are merely an alternate revenue stream that any sensible business should employ in order to maximise their potential earnings and entirely optional in a lot of cases. As they will be here. This knee jerk reaction is verging on the ridiculous. The video contains a pre release build. It should be very clear to most that tweaks and adjustments get made in between. The blood splatter thing was already explained by General Jah so looking at his post history will find the exact words but it basically relates to the number of enemies on screen at the same time and the software adapting the blood splatter accordingly in relation to certain factors such as proximity in order to maintain framerate. Allegedly in the final build, it is not a noticeable factor. And 10 enemies on screen at once is a lot for a device paired to UE to manage along with everything else. Some adaption is necessary. But the key point. The video is not the final build. Try and bear that in mind before pre judging. Initial reaction to the game has been extremely positive by those that have had a pre release build and its still a pre release build so the final one will only be better. Edit. And just on what you said Johnny, any QandA or interview that's been done has made it clear that earnings, weapons and the like are inextricably linked to gameplay, gameplay style, number of deaths and other gameplay related elements, not to iap. Anybody with concerns should just google the game and read the interviews with the developer. There's plenty out there that should address those concerns.
Yes Rip, I would figure that all weapon/item purchases would be attainable without any iAP and linked towards gameplay earnings. What you said is spot on. In order for a developer to have a chance at making a profit or maximize earnings. They need to put optional IAP in their games. It is a business after all. Angry Birds was an anomaly, making that much money for a dollar. The game just took off and became a world wide phenomenon but generally developers need to have IAP's. Some are done right and some are just plain greedy. I'm going to believe that Action Mobile would put fair and optional IAP's in this game. I think this game will be an excellent zombie game on mobile. Rip, let's partner up and play sometime when this comes out.
Absolutely. Looking forward to that coop part a lot because there a lot of good guys on here I'm eager to out score
Well sir, I look forward to the challenge. I hope I can keep up with you on my ancient 4G touch. Probably will be upgrading to the iPad mini or iPad 3(4) at Christmas.
@Rip - I fail to see how our acceptance for IAP leads to anything good. Accepting the worse is never the right path. Don't you "Deal with it!" me.
Didnt you just contradict yourself there? In my opinion, let's just wait and see how it turns out. On the other hand, im sure some of the iOS gamers already are turned of by having existing IAPs on top of the premium price. Im putting an open-mind on this though, as this definitely has a potential to be a top zombie shooter for iOS. Yeah, overall even on a premium game, IAP exists more often than not, and I have accepted the fact already. There are a lot of good premium titles which definitely dont need them, but have them, which is perfectly fine to me. My only concern with this IAP is how it will impact the multiplayer part, be it coop or PVP or whatever. On coop, if you got to pair up with an OP character, that would kill the fun for me, and probably would to most other players as well. I hope you are right on the blood splatter part, coz the game doesnt look good on that supposedly-pre-release-build video without any "being-shot-animations" on some of those zombies hit with a shotgun. The ones with blood splatters and impact-jerking look fantastic though.
