I did NOT take a promo code, but I felt you should know that if someone gets a game through a promo code they are not allowed to rate or review the game under new app store policies that were put into effect a month or two back. You may get good feedback *here* and other places, but it won't get you any direct feedback on the app store itself. If someone tries they get a "to rate this item, you must own it" error.

Well I for one can still rate games I've received with a promo code. I've done it with a few games lately. Just today I rated moto mania which I got with a promo code. I'm in the uk if that makes a difference.
Interesting. Us Americans definitely can't. Even for games we got the promo code for before Apple changed the policy. Wonder if there's some quirk in UK or EU law that prevents them from being asshats since Apple's stated policy is they wanted to improve the integrity of the ratings and reviews (as if all the 1 sentence "Great Game 5 stars!" or "It crashed, 1 star" type reviews could have their integrity lowered ).
Lol im sick of seeing loads of app store reviews like "1* I didn't read the app description and it doesn't work on my device" or "1* this is rubbish I want a refund" But anyway here in the uk it's always let me leave reviews for promo code games ever since I got my iPod last year. Who knows apple seem a bit random at times, it could change.
There is a small window of opportunity to leave a review after you have redeemed a promo code. I'm not sure how long it is, but I've gone about 45 minutes between redeem and review. But soon after you'll be locked out. And you can't edit after that.
Yeah I just discovered you can leave a rating if you do it right after you download. so everyone please leave a review if you would like.
Figures Apple would figure out how to screw up something they probably should have left alone in the first place. The only games you should be reviewing in 45 minutes are games that empty your bank account and cause your i-Device to melt into slag. Everything else people should be putting a little more thought into in my opinion, which I guess is why I've never seen this magic window to beat Apple's system at processing the review ban.
