This week's Pizza Vs. Skeletons Update: I spent all week redoing Pizza Vs. Skeletons animations. Why? Because I thought they could be better. I wrote a little about my thought process here. Curious to see what you all think: http://www.rivermanmedia.com/home/3-game-design/160-good-vs-better -Jacob
Just read the blog post; as both a consumer and self-professed armchair perfectionist, I *always* prefer the "make it better" approach. 8D It's impossible to know, and difficult even to speculate on how your decision will affect sales, but speaking personally, seeing developers and other creative people like you pouring time and effort into improving their product is nothing short of inspirational. "C'mon, man, isn't that a bit overdramatic?" Not really. I *LOVE* seeing people take "good" to the next level. Thanks for sharing some insight into your process!
You have no idea how encouraging your comment is. It's so easy to fall into the thinking of "nobody will care, none of this matters." But it *does* matter, thanks to feedback like yours! Jacob
Looking good so far! So, how far into development are you guys? I also am wondering if you'll plan to support it post-release if it does well? Because I liked your Deathfall game (great graphics), but sadly nothing really was added to add to the experience.
Development is about 20% complete. We will certainly support Pizza Vs. Skeletons post-release. Bug-fixes are a no-brainer, we will update for those no matter what. As for additional content, we will add more if there is sufficient community demand. As for Deathfall, we did recently release an HD version for iPad that contains additional zones, a continue system, and the ability to calibrate the tilt sensor. We may roll some of these changes into the original version. With only a 2-person development team, we have to carefully balance our time between adding content to older projects and creating newer ones. Jacob
Totally love how you drift away from skeleton animation in some philosophical wall of text Definitely looking forward to your games progress. The basic premise you stand for is awesome and should be encouraged very much ! Such an attitude pays out sooner or later
We've got a very special update this week: Due to popular demand, we are pleased to announce that Yes, you will be able to choose the toppings on your pizza. And more! Not only that, but we want your suggestions on what you'd like to include on your pizza. Read the article below for details! http://www.rivermanmedia.com/news/165-better-ingredients-deader-skeletons Thanks! Jacob
Thanks crex! I liked all your ideas! Since you were the first post, I think most of them will probably make it into the game! Jacob
Awesome!!! Thnx!!! btw, any chance I could be acknowledged in the credits? Like a "special thnx to crex" thing?
Sure! We'll mention you in the credits. That goes for anyone: Just tell us how you'd like your name to be shown and we'll put you in the credits under special thanks. Jacob
Hi everyone, We made great progress on Pizza Vs. Skeletons this week, but unfortunately nothing is quite ready to show off yet. So instead, I've written an article on a little GUI design tip that I've recently discovered. I don't know how many of you are interested in making games as opposed to playing them but I hope some of you find this useful and interesting. GUI Design Tip: The Navigation Grid Until next week! Jacob
First Video! We released the first video of the game today! It's very very very early, but I think you'll get the idea. Check out here for more info. Have fun! Jacob
