Unfortunately not. Rather than complete the game, I wonder if the devs are throwing everything in, including the kitchen sink. Which could be a terrible mistake. As there will always be stuff you'd like to do, but if you add too much it could become sloppy. Or if you want to keep adding things, you'll never finish. Think about a cd with 20 songs, but only 11 are good. I'd rather have had the 11 song killer album, vs. 9 filler songs that ruin the impression of what could have been a stronger album. There's an old saying. Leave well enough alone. I wish they would just finish the game, rather than keep shoving stuff into it. If they feel it could have used them, add them as updates later.
Most of the extras we added in were pretty quick add-ons, most of the extra time spent has been refining and fixing things as well as preparing the iPad version. We still plan to submit before Christmas, so we are on schedule.
Sounds awesome im getting even more excited by the day. I guess it will be a merry christmas after all.
I'd rather they take their time getting the game they want done to the standard they want - even if it takes them into next year. There is something to be said for patience.
One thing people need to keep in mind is submittance doesn't mean approval. There is an approval procss and It might get sent back a few times, nobody knows. If I had to make a prediction, I'd bet it would be next year before the actual release.
Or we could be patient and let them finish the game at their own pace. I mean why would anyone say no to extra content? And also songs are subjective to taste, the fillers for you might be the favorite of others. (same goes for the extra content)
Yes, but at this pace they will continually add things and never finish... It's that whole keep adding in things, and more things and more things.... And more things, and more things, and more things... Which is good to some, where as there may be frivolous things that could be added in as updates later. The longer this game takes, the more it may fall off of some peoples radar. At least add a new gameplay video or new pictures and keep people interested. We live in an a.d.d. And instant gratification society, these days. I want the game to be as great as any game ever to come before it, especially if it can be an elder scrolls level. However, I'd rather have the game and enjoy what's there. Vs. Having to wait because they want to add in pie baking, knitting, etc. (hypothetical examples) and many needless things.
Hmm this is a problem since Infinity Blade is supposed to be released around this time. You will get bad reviews because Infinity Blade has better graphics. And Infinity Blade will go down because Aralon will have more depth. I suggest you wait some time after they release their game. You will affect each other sales. But its your choice
Or haul booty and preemptively release before infinity blade. By attracting the dollars, it will leave people without the cash for infinity blade. This game is on a lot of peoples radar.
Honestly I think its good that Infinity Blade releases first so we can see how they are pricing their game. We had it in mind to do 9.99 because of the sheer amount of content in Aralon. Aside from Infinity Blade - we still probably have some of the best looking WRPG graphics ever seen on the App store. We are just going to keep going and polish it up, get it tested and out so you guys can play it. I know I'm more excited than ever to get this game released! We are also approaching 200k views for this thread - which shows that there is plenty of interest - maybe even more than Ravensword had! I'll even admit that I'm really excited to play Infinity Blade too. We have Shadow Sun and Dungeon Hunter II of course to look forward to as well. You RPG fans are going to get one hell of a treat this holiday.
I am mostly interested in Aralon and Shadow Sun - Infinity Blade while graphically stunning and impressive isn't a full blown RPG in the same sense - as such it should not be judged against or by those standards. Same as it would be improper to measure Aralon based on the merits of say NOVA.
Even with all of the available options, this is still my number 1 most hyped WRPG this holiday season.
Same here! I was gonna get an iPod 4t gen. for it but now I can't afford one. So I hope they do a really good job optimizing for 2nd gen.

Since you mentioned polish, will the textures be higher resolution than your typical Gameloft game? Moderncombat 2 looks nice, but the most disappointing aspect are terrible looking upclose textures - whether it be walls or objects. Can the A4 render bump mapping? Can you have the device render top quality on the iphone4 and iPad, and scale down to lesser devices, vs. Scaling up? There's already enough games that suffer because of the need to be on all the devices, that the lower common denominator devices hurt the better equipped devices.
I'm pretty sure bump mapping works (e.g. epic citadel), but unity might not support it and the performance hit would probably be too big.
In any event, we're still talking about a handheld game being made by a tiny development team. Bump mapping is rare on PSP games by major publishers. Why would anyone expect it on a game like Aralon?
I don't think this game will be falling of anybody's radar. Not once they've either a) seen the trailer or b) read even a page of this thread.
Yeah if you game on iPhone/iPod this game will not fall off your radar. Like us Rpg fans haven't heard shit about the next elder scrolls but it's all we really think about. Mi rite?
Because neither the Nintendo Gamecube, nor it's successor the Wii can run the Unreal 3 engine, yet, both systems had games with bump mapped textures. ... I'm also sorry to burst bubbles, but why does everyone compare the iPhone4 and iPad to the PSP? These 2 devices are graphically superior to the Sony handheld.
