sorry if I'm going about this the wrong way but I'd be interested in beta testing too if the opportunity arises
I'll talk to Mark and see what he thinks about releasing some kind of screenshot in the next two weeks. There still is a lot to be done before we should show anything.
Everything is coming along really well right now. Already started revamping the character customization system and getting new character animations into the game. I'm also working on enhancing the way you have dialogs with Npc's and general gameplay polishing. I have lots of ideas from things I wanted to do but thought we wouldn't have time to do, but now there is some time to do them.
that's amazing, some games would be really fun but the camera angle kills them, that's great that i can put this one exactly where i want it.
Wow! Thanks squarezero your impressions of the game makes this game sound more than promising, I knew Aralon was going to go much deeper than any other action RPG on the iDevice but this is beyond amazing! You have no idea how jelous I am of your beta "testingness" but these forums are lucky to have a serious beta tester like you who's responding to the questions asked thank you for that every bit of info about Aralon makes me more and more excited! One thing I'm curious about is during combat I'm assuming the camera fixes to follow the selected target but for attacks such as bows and arrows do you still have to aim at your target? This is one thing that would definatly make combat more exciting and challenging! Also you mentioned that the animations needed to be patched up, as of now are they better than ravensword animations? And also can your character interact with other characters more deeply? (example: relation ships between characters) also can you attack towns people? And from what you can tell about the quest are they alot more complex than (bring me 5 flowers)? Thanks man sorry for all the question I'm just fascinated by the game, hopefully I'll he apart of the next beta testing n I can help out the community the way you are and sorry about spelling it's all typed on iPod and my baterrie is going to die soon Edit: oh I almost forgot, is there alot of space to carry items? And does weight take a role in this game, along with my final question is ther other places we can store items?!
Sorry to take so long to answer your questions -- my internet access has been a bit spotty recently. *Combat in Aralon (at least in the original version we tested) was more like a WoW or Dragon Age and less like Ravensword or other action RPGs: once you target an enemy, whether you hit or miss is determined by your character's ability, not by the players aiming skill. *I know that people complain about Ravensword's animation, but with Aralon they were simply amateurish. Attacking was actually not that bad, but walking was pretty poor, and climbing up ladders was unintentionally funny. Don't know if the final result will be better or worse than Ravensword (though I know that Josh and Russ both took the criticism to heart), but it will definitely be better than what we saw on the beta. *You can join guilds, so in a sense, yes, you can establish alliances with NPCs. But character interactions are not, in general, terribly deep: people answer questions, give you quests, etc, but it's not like you can assemble a party. *You can attack townspeople, though that would make you an outlaw and definitely complicate your life as a player . You can also break into house and steal from NPCs. *The main quest is pretty complex, involving many different NPCs, different locations, etc. The side quests are, as can be expected, simpler, though they can involve exploring large dungeons and killing a specific leader, or guarding someone as they make their way from their house to the village. In other words, they're not all fetch/kill x# of monsters type quests. *There's plenty of space in 3 or 4 packs available to you (I forget how many), and weight is not really an issue (I think). You can run out of space, though, as the game has plenty of loot. As I said before, even with the original graphics Aralon would have been a standout title. Now that CM is involved, I'm expecting something amazing.
You get three packs for carrying items on your person, as squarezero mentioned. There's also a bank in the main city where you can store items and other chests throughout the world that you can use for storage. Of course if you're an outlaw, you could kill an Npc and "occupy" their home if you wanted to and use their house for storage. One more thing I don't think I mentioned before, there's also a library in the main city where you can read about some of the world lore. And there may even be some surprises for those who search a little . . .
wow I didn't even know some of that stuff was in there... we're going to need to develop a big ass game guide for this thing.
I'm not sure how much of that stuff was in the last beta build, but I know there will be more by the time we hit release
Aralon - game guide. Pocket edition with only 524 million pages. BTW, didn't know about the library either!
Is this game going to be first and third person like Morrowind or just third person? I think Ravensword also had a choice between the two right?
If i'm correct, you can place the camera in any position at any angle, so that should mean both Wow thats much more than i was expecting! You guys keep surprising us every time you leave a comment & thanks for replying. haha i think its going to take everyone of us to complete that guide from the sounds of it lol, (P.S If anyone needs help making a guide once released, i'd be glad to help)
Sorry if you would consider this double posting but i felt it would be easier to reply using a new post. That being said, thanks for answering my questions really appreciated From the sounds of it i hope the animations will be improved, but either way great game and still an amazing accomplishment! Kind of a downer on the combat style, but at the same time considering its being played on a iDevice would be rather complicated using other combat methods. Another thing i was wondering is, how are the terrains? I am definatly expecting things like winter terrains, lava, ect. but is there mountains and things of such were it causes the player to detour or take certain routes(pass through caves, dangerous path over the mountain...ect.), or is it relatively flat? Bringing up the question of water! Is swimming an option in this game? Also you talked about guilds! Do you mean guilds like Thieves guild, mages guild ect? which I'm assuming you are but is there the possibility of doing quest along side your guild members or hiring mercenaries? I in the first post its mentioned that theres is a unique skill tree for each race, but how do the stats work? Thank you!
