I thought it was interesting that it shows up on a search in the App Store when I checked this morning. At least for auto-complete when you search for "Aralon". I got all excited, stopped getting ready for work, and sat down to hit Touch Arcade to see what was up. Still looks like a 16th release. Weird how it's now showing up in the searches though. Wasn't doing that a day or two ago. Evening of the 16th will be a LATE night for me I already know.
Has anyone mentioned languages yet? It would be great if Aralon supported some major languages like French, Spanish and German (for me ). So...does it?
My theory is (and I don't think I am far off from this, and has been mentioned in this thread already) that when an app is approved it is in the App store database (thusly you see the name populate in the app store). Then they just hold onto it to release it when they want to (the devs). The same thing is going on with Real Racing 2 (also set for the 16th, a later date than having been approved). Just wish they would f*cking release it already, and even though I don't get it, I respect it. As I can't wait to play this game. Makes it feel like I am waiting for the release of a console game (which I guess might be what they are trying to immitate in a way) *shrugs*
Now what I'm wondering about is the way Infinity Blade popped up on tue search only a day or two before it's release... Was this Apple's doing, or IB's plain choice of release? Hmm...
Well I wish they would release it for the weekend because from my experience people are more likely to spend money on weekends than during the week
I'd appreciate moving the release date to Friday, actually. Reasons being you'd avoid Real Racing 2, Nova 2, and you'd stop my temptation from buying it before I finish my finals.
I'm pretty happy about the 16th release date, and Aralon being released alongside NOVA. I remember back in 2007 when I first got my Xbox, the two games I got were Halo 3, an awesome FPS, and Oblivion, the Xbox's definitive RPG. The two together perfectly satisfied my two gaming personalities. Haloblivion... And now we have Nova, supposedly an awesome iPhone FPS and Aralon, perhaps the definitive iPhone RPG. I shall get both. Novaralon...
During this season, with all of the releases, Aralon is going to be competing with the other games for attention anyways--I don't think that offsetting it by one day will truly change anything. Dec. 16 seems like the perfect date to me. I'm sure N.O.V.A. 2 and Real Racing 2 will have a similar starting price, and if that is the case, Aralon is sooo going to leave them behind on the charts. With IB having a whopping 15-30 min of play or so per cycle, a bunch of people are going to be looking for a game with more depth as well.
I would just like to point out that I just typed in the word (aralon) in the AppStore search engine and it automatically asked me if I meant (aralon: sword and shadow HD). When I searched for it there were no results but still it's nice to see the AppStore preparing!
competition is good, and im sure Aralon has what it takes to be at the top. not even worried about it competing against gameloft or anybody else, infinity blade would have been the only thing that could have shadowed Aralon, simply because of all the hype and not to mention it was featured almost everywhere, even big gaming sites such as IGN. shame they havent given Aralon any exposure, but atleast the hype over infinity blade is over. its now Aralons time to shine
I'm not sure why IGN isn't paying attention to this game. Its possible they'll cover it after release. We had tons of coverage with Ravensword on IGN - and that game is simple in comparison (its a year later now - to be fair) Gizmodo, STP and Pocket Gamer, Appera and some other sites, are paying attention. We have some real stiff competition for the charts on the 16th - so I'm not getting my hopes up. If we break into the top 25 at Christmas time, I'd be very happy. We also don't have a big publisher backing us this time - we're going it alone - and trying to build a name for ourselves and our hard working team.
You going it alone is what will be your making. It will get the attention it deserves. Even if it doesn't come from the media, you have lots of dedicated fans right here.
For Rolando, and Rolando 2, a few years ago, that just means that the app is approved, but the devs haven't put it on the store yet.
