325 PAGES. DAMN I have that app lol and it's super fun. But what i don't get is why ppl spend so much money on rpg games on the iPhone. The iPhone is supposed to be casual gaming device. Even though I admit I love Hero Of Sparta's on the iPhone.
Well, maybe because what the iPhone is supposed to be for you is not the same as what it is for other people. You are not the center of the universe, you know, regardless of what you mom told you.
Depth vs casual The vast majority of games on the iPhone are casual. And that's fine. They have their place when you're waiting for a train and just want to spend 3 minutes Doodledjumping, Canabalting or working out the the anger issues of our feathered friends. But the iPhone perfectly suits bigger, more engrossing games too - and there's a much bigger sense of achievement to be gained from completing something with a plot, deep strategy, depth and size. I've got no problems with such titles costing more, as clearly the development time required to produce them is much greater than the average casual title. Not every iPhone owner is 16 years old - I'm 40, and sometimes I want to relax with a good game and get really engrossed in it. I work at a PC - I've got no wish to play games at it, any more, so the iPhone has become my premier gaming device, and the gaming side (RPGs and RTS in-particular) were the major reason I switched from Blackberry. The best games I've played on the iPhone include Highborn, Undercroft, Warfare Incorporated and, yes, Ravensword. So more power to the elbow of Crescent Moon, Galoobeth and Diceworks - they're fighting the good fight, as far as I'm concerned and all of their titles will be instant purchases, whatever the price. Perhaps us more mature games have a little more spending power. One quick message for Crescent Moon, if they read this... the last big RPG title on Palm OS was a polished, tight traditional RPG called 'Edge' with stellar graphics and great gameplay. It's a C++ title, and I believe it would port pretty easily to the iPhone. All the graphics are 320 x 480. I also strongly suspect that the talented author, R Zane Rutledge, would probably love to see it in the App Store, but can't afford the time. I'm sure you guys are stretched, but this was a great title, and it would be great to see it get the exposure it deserves. Check it out at: http://www.rzanerutledge.com/tv/category/games/ Perhaps another partnership?
Is the game going to support Apples Game Center? I saw that they opened it up so developers can start creating content for it. Have you thought about achievements? Having interesting ones can really up the desire to keep playing. Like Red Dead Redemption which had some really cool/funny ones.
Awesome, This is probably the upcoming game I'm most excited for. Rimelands and EPICWIN! both look really interesting too. Hopefully they don't cost a lot. My gaming budget is pretty thin.
Oh, sorry. I didn't get that memo. Or I got it and just didn't read it because I was too busy playing some of the incredibly deep and high production value RPGs and strategy games I have on my iPhone. You should contact Steve Jobs and ask him to update his marketing material for the device so people better understand what he means for them to do with the device.
Is there going to be an on-screen XP bar? I've noticed there isn't one in Ravensword but find them to be great features. Also, I really love the particle effects in the forest in Ravensword, it really adds to the environment. I was wondering, is there going to be anything like this in Aralon?
Sorry, I haven't really been keeping up with this thread so the only thing I really know about this game is that it's going to be a 3d RPG. I just want to know what kind of rpg will it be, will it be an Oblivion/Morrowind type epic open ended rpg with a skill based level up system or will it be something like Ravensword which was more like a 3d adventure game with minimal rpg elements and xp based level up system? Or will it be something in between?
On the city screenshot (on page 114 I believe) there are threee bars on the top left. If I was guessing that would be HP, MP, XP.
All I know is this game is going to be awesome!! and i hope it runs on my iphone 2g. But if it doesnt thats ok I'll just buy an Iphone 4 but i was going to hold out on it considering the Rage video. When he said it would work with the IPhone 2g. Which is Awesome!!! Hopefully more developers could follow that path making it Iphone 2g compatible
