Kai824 you'll be glad to know that the sequel is going to be at least x2 more sucky than the original... in fact now that we're full 3D it might even be x3 more sucky!

Any suggestions of how we can make it more/less sucky would be appreciated.

We won't be competing directly with Gangstars because quite frankly the world doesn't need another realistic, linear GTA style game.

Simon's our new guy here and he'll be updating with new features and no doubt some sweet ass competitions over the coming weeks. I remember last time someone from TA got made into a character in the games so we'll be doing stuff like that again quite soon. Might even give away a car if we feel generous* ;-)

    Cheers

I don't mean to brag. But if you could see what our Car Jack Streets 2 team is working on I am sure you wouldn't be interested in any other game involving gangs ;).

I don't know about that. Hate to doubt you guys but I honestly think Gangstar 3 will be better than Car Jack Streets 2. Prove me wrong Tag Games! I'm hyped for both though but I heard CJS2 won't be released until 2012 so I will have lots of time to play Gangstar 3 before CJS2 gets released. Also is it going to be a universal app? That would be awesome.

Oh. People who do 2.5d games will always say it's 3d but from a birds eye view. Who knows,

Oh right, yeah a fully 3D GTA clone takes about 2 months total. I forgot that bit of information.

    It's coming.

Building and coding a fully 3D world is not easy. There are SOOOO many different aspects that need designing. Buildings, combat, controls, cars, driving methods, guns, ammo, characters, music, streets, street assets (i.e. Light posts, mailboxes, trashcans, road signs)..etc.

Fail much? It's been 2 years, not two months. Of course it'd be absurd to expect this in 2 months, but two years is excessive. They should at least give us status updates, or else they will and are losing interest/hype.

2 years is not excessive. If this is to be the game I expect, then 2 years is about where the development time should be.

Duke Nukem forever took 14 years.

Also the 2 Months was a hyperbole.

Surely, that's not 2 years dev time, though, I know tag aren't that big a company, only Paul himself seems to be getting bigger :) , and they've had a few side projects to contend with in the interim, so I doubt very much they've had sustained development for 2 years, they've probably just started ramping up dev. on this over the past few months more than likely now that other projects are shipped and out the door. :/

But to be fair i'm surprised devs dont keep people informed with updates etc, things just seem to go 'dead' with not a word. Its good theres people here asking for updates, excited about when this game will one day come out. Give them a small piece of info will keep them interested and theyll purchase it the second it comes out.

Sorry to keep you all waiting! We feel your pain.

The new Car Jack is really shaping up and when we have something more to show you can be sure our friends here at TA will be the first to know!

As has already been pointed out, this is a huge undertaking for a very small studio like Tag and its really stretching us in all areas from game design, art, technical and of course financial. We've put a couple of release dates out that we've been aiming for but this has been stupid. We'll not commit to a new date until we get to Beta and can be sure we can hit it.

To give you an idea something like GTA 3 was completed with a team of over 100. GTA Chinatown Wars had a core team of over 30 and many more helping out part time. Car Jack 2 has a core team of 5!! Just goes to show how much game engine technology and understanding has come on in the past 5 years! We arent even using Unity ;-)

Hope that helps answer some of the questions? I'll pop back in a few weeks once Funpark Friends is live and I have a bit more time to engage. Also I'm sure Simon our new guy will want to jump on this thread as well post Funpark Friends big launch.

    Thanks
    P
