HI Dustin, I´ve just seen this, and this might be the second card game I ever get. and as a Lovecraft fanatic I tell you this: this better should be going to be amazing - otherwise no horror from the Lovecraftian world will compare to what I will do to you. Don´t mess with Cthulhu! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOHJUrcVdJk&NR=1
rough cut: Necronomicon video preview I was testing the Necronomicon's in-game menu today and thought I'd post a quick video. I remember when the ipad first debuted, one of the Apps I thought was really cool was the animated Alice in Wonderland book, so I took some inspiration there in creating the menu system for Necronomcion. Have a look... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq2q47eOdzg
I hope the game will have a strong CCG and table-top role-playing combined feel to it, that's what I'm aiming for. I'm sorry to say back then I didn't have any friends who were into Lovecraft gaming so I'm not familiar with the earlier card games...part of my motivation for making this comes from the fact that I didn't know anyone who liked to play these kinds of games. In a sense I'm sort of making the game I wish I would've had back then...
Dustin, Glad you liked it As for some more inspiration, maybe you`d like to google White Wolfe Arcadia TCG. Esp. The "King Ironhearts Madness". This was the OTHER TCG I´ve ever played. I KNOW what else has been around and it never sparked anything in me. I liked King Ironheart a lot because it also had Terrain and Quest Cards, and more RPG/Dice Elements than others. Not just 'I show you mine, so show me yours'-boredom. Maybe it was too crossover or to innovative for the usual TCG-Player, since it wasn´t much of an success, unfortunately, so it got discontinued. BTW, great Artworks and presentation in the video!
Thanks a lot for that information, I'll check it out! I'm always interested in hearing about great games, can't ever get enough of 'em.
I'm sure you guys will want to kill me for posting this, but I just couldn't resist: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/81337
great movie, esp the last scene is to spot on! the only joke better than such things is, when great Cthulhu really arises and eats you and those pesky cute-doers even before his followers . The word ExeCUTEioner get a totally new dimension... (man, these drugs really work...)
Funny video, thanks for sharing that! Francois Launet - one of the talented artists who worked on the Necronomicon - has been doing a popular Lovecraft-themed comic for some time: http://www.goominet.com/unspeakable-vault/vault/331/
Will this game be a complete package, or will new cards be available through in-app purchases? Also, will there be any sort of multiplayer? Sorry, if you've answered these questions already.
Hi Castor, The game will be a complete package, sure we will have more cards to buy through in-app purchase, but you'll also have the option of winning new and rare cards through in game achievements and high scores, so even if you decide not to spend another dime on the game you will still have an opportunity to grow and expand your deck - this is a "collectible" card game after all, not just a "buy more" cards game. There will be no multiple-player to begin with, but I plan on incorporating it into a future update if I can support it. Also, an HD version is in the works for the iPad which I hope to have out by Halloween. There will be some enhancements in that version. Thanks for your interest!
Dang, down to the dippy production values and cheesy dialog...it was the best religious propoganda/PSA evar!
I'm all for decent DLCs to keep the coffers flowing of decent developers and the idea of making a player really work their butt off for some rare cards, I'm just hoping it isn't one of those, "We only give you a pathetic deck that can't beat more than your first two opponents and your only chance to improve is to buy a CRATE of virtual card packs for a tiny chance of some needed rare cards!" which I'm taking your word won't be the case.
Hi All, we had hoped to have a mid-July release but due to some last minute changes, it will be more like mid August. But it will be a better game than it was a month ago. I can pretty much assure it will be submitted sometime in August. Next week, I'm going to try to release some gameplay video/trailer and some new material. Thanks!
