we would REALLY like everyone's opinion on the artwork we've done. Feel free to make a statement on our http://www.facebook.com/squishypixels page or let us know how ya feel about it here. I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say.
Onaji is now up for sale! http://itunes.apple.com/app/onaji/id469596535?mt=8 We look forward to the gameplay strategies you folks come up with
I would like a promo code if possible. BTW, it looks a lot like PRISM. It might play different, but it looks too much. Just the painting of the triangles are a little bit different. Like a Photoshop filter. And the way triangles fall is not smooth enough. Improve the rotation algorithm (if using one) or add more frames to the animation. For the icon: 1st) remove the TEXT! 2nd) something is not working with the colors. Blue and Green is not a nice choice. I'll send more impressions with the code.
Do you have a link to this Prism game? We've done a fair amount of due diligence to ensure our game didn't look/play like another game on the market. On another note, the video shows an older build so bare in mind that the shipping version of Onaji is significantly optimized compared to the video.
aaah, yeah...halfway through the development we found Trism. At first we were sweating over this thinking it was the same game! However, there's only so much you can visually do with triangles laid out in a grid. That being said, our gameplay/art/music/core purpose is absolutely nothing like Trism. We would be very grateful if you were to write up a review after you try it out: YXPH9X7NHNR3 Enjoy!
if whomever took the Promo code wouldn't mind writing up a little review on iTunes I would greatly appreciate it. Muffie: I will PM you a new code.
Really sorry. I saw the code and assumed it was free because I didn't read through all the posts. I did write a review on iTunes and I wrote an honest review. I'm sorry to say this but I truly can't bear playing more than 5 mins of it. To me it added nothing new to the puzzle genre. Triangles fall too slowly. I was actually able to browse and read a TA article before it was filled. You should have added bomb triangles and other power ups to make game play a bit more fun. Overall I give it a 3/5. The UI and nice graphics made up for the boring game play. I hope that after an update or two I'll be able to truly get into it
excellent! thank you for giving it a try, Fireball. We certainly appreciate your honesty. I would encourage you to keep playing it as the game will speed up as you beat each level. i'm very curious to know what sort of play style you used. Can you give me a detailed description of how you played the game, if you beat the first level, what you enjoyed/disliked about the mechanics? Oh, i forgot to add, did you get that you needed to make a super hex with the Onaji tiles? We were struggling with the wording of the instructions, a bit. Wondered if you had a similar experience understanding the goal of leveling up.
I decided to give it another go after writing on the thread. I never beat the first level(never understood what to do to advance) but after starting to play again it became apparent that you have to make a hex or something with the special tiles to advance. It seems really hard to me to get past a level in a simple 5 min fix. When I'm not waiting for the tiles to fall down It is quite enjoyable with the music and all. I still think power-up tiles would be nice. One drastic thing needed is multipliers. Earning BIG points really makes the player feel good about themselves. I'll leave it with a 3.4/5 for now. Once it breaks the 3.5 mark I'll rate it a 4
Onaji really is one of those games that blossoms with invested time. The core demographic probably won't find this as appealing as say...Modern Warfare, but there is a classic gaming experience there. I appreciate you giving it another playthrough! I do want to point out the more tiles you chain together the more the point value totals up. The flashing point values double with every fifth consecutive tile in the chain. Do you still feel like Onaji is a Trism clone?
A fresh perspective Onaji has been out for several days now and I feel it necessary to report that sales are...well terrible. Maybe a shock to some but to the majority, perhaps no surprise. Being part of the development team, put me in the category with the shocked. For those who are in the group of not surprised I want to hear from you. Putting aside all of the 5-star reviews there was one critical look at our game. This being from Fireball926(thank you, by the way). This is what we need right there. I invite people that have glanced at it, jumped in with both feet, or snubbed their nose to fire away and give their critical opinion.
Thank you for doing that! I was going to ask an admin to move this thread over to the released section, pretty soon. We've been buried with working on updates for Onaji and ramping up production on our next game Tether Pig (sneak peek artwork is posted up on our Facebook page)
