How did You make that pirate Dylan? From a picture, or have you digitized from the very beginning?

 

I did a composite of an image of my face that I lit with strobes to go with the mood I was going for, gun in 3ds max/illustrator, Hat is actually black felt fabric that I smoothed/shaped into a pirate hat.(skull was a trace(illustrator) of the skull used in the actual game.) Eye patch was from last halloween. Photoshop retouching to get the dirty look. I digitally cut out the center of the eye patch because I wanted to show the pirates most valuable piece of Gold he owns(which he keeps in his covered eye socket!) I added a subtle glow off the coin for effect. I tried this in several different compositions. I think it turned out cool.

Thanks for exhaustive clarification. Your icon looks very epic, like no other. But also, to be honest, I can't associate it with candy-graphic of "Pirate's Gold".
To me it would look better as an icon of Pirates of the Carraibean... It is too movie style in my opinion.
Of course I can't deny, I respect You for Your remarkable skills.

I did it epic because they asked for epic along the way after seeing all others. So I give epic. However it is easier to start with more detail than less, so I guess I'll have to make one more in the posterized style of the cow and milk image. If I could see the characters face I could work closer to some more of the specifics in the game. Heck I will play with modifying my epic into candy.
