This first skirmish version wont have online capabilities, but I've written an online server that lets you play asynchronous games. We had it in Lost Company a while back and it was great to spend 2 mins having a turn then quitting and doing something else while your opponent had their turn. It still needs a bit more work before it's ready for prime time, but we expect to put online capabilities back in soon after we release the single player campaign.
Wait, so for the online capabilities, we will be able to have a large number of games going on at once if it is asynchronous right?
Yeah, you'll be able to have lots of games going at once. There will be a limit to the number of games because of server costs but it'll be a relatively large.
How're plans going for this one folks? Has been a bit quiet for a week or so! Is there Pass & Play Multiplayer by the way? Reckon this would add a lot to the game! Sorry if already answered, it's been a while since I was on this thread...
In relation to Pass & Play (or hotseat games), yes you will be able to play against a human on the same device. It's already a lot of fun And progress wise, we've been working hard and getting a lot of those last little things finished and polished so it's a complete, finished game. We play the game a lot during testing so it's hard to know what's needed in the final stages to help the learning curve and really make the game enjoyable. We've shown the game to lots of people over the last two weeks and we've been implementing the polish that makes the game even more enjoyable. Two weeks ago it was a great game. Now it's an awesome game and it's so, so close! We've also been cramming in sounds and improving the AI - I spent 3 hours last night thoroughly enthralled while I battled the AI opponent - And I wrote it This is going to be big when it hits the App Store, so we want to make sure it makes the right impression from the very first time you play. We are very, very close to getting it out there so stay tuned!
Just looking at those screenshots makes me all giddy and excited, working out where I'd place my men, and take cover using the various elements of the battlefield! This is definitely my most anticipated game and might even prompt me into buying an iPad 2 just to play it properly! Any word on other platforms for the game? If you pushed it out onto the consoles you could even look at a 4-player local or online mode, a bit like Worms I suppose! Either way, this looks absolutely immense guys, great work!
New shots up on the TOMEStudios Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/tomestudios Game is looking great, and apparently plays pretty well too! Just out of interest, are the screenshots from the iPad? Will it look the same on an iPhone or will the buttons be bigger?
Not sure if these links will work - please let me know if not: Enemy AI Leader shooting my Grenadier and attempting to capture my flag!: My Flamethrower is ambushed by an enemy Commando after toasting a red Grenadier.: Overview of the 'Strategic Victory' mode on the 'Compound' level. I'm winning, aw yeah...!: Commando planning an attack. Oh, and notice the new 'HUD' art, buttons and icons I made last week. Hope you guys like it!: Grenadier planning a shot on the red Leader. New 'confirmation' buttons in the middle.:
This looks like just the game Hunters and Great Little War Game should have been. Lost Company tops my current wishlist
Mine too, it looks utterly superb. I really hope they push this one out beyond the iOS because it looks like it'd make a fantastic game on the consoles too. Imagine local 4 player team deathmatch with this one!
It is slated for a mac release, so there is some cross-platform support already planned Here's to the hope of cross-platform multiplayer.
hehe, nehhhh I wouldn't be too bothered about a Mac release. But a release onto the Xbox 360 would be something! Four mates gathered on a sofa, playing Lost Company (or whatever it's new name is) with a load of beers would be the stuff classic Worms nights were made of!
Anyone know the release date for this game? I buy all turn based strategy games, I've been hooked since advance wars and fire emblem! Can't get enough of these games, so I'm glad there are a few good ones coming out! I just hate waiting that's all haha. I'd pay 20-30 bux to be able to purchase it now! Hee hee.
Looking at all of the pictures on facebook (and posts #286/290), I think my favorite map will be the Coal Yard level. The levels really do seem so alive with vivid color, great personality and detail. Really looking forward to this now
Hm. Revitalized my interest in this game. I wish we had an idea of it's release time. Hopefully it will get some TouchArcade coverage because I know that this game had a preview a long time ago.
