Mine did, three times now. I now have a spare one that I bought just because I didn't want to wait 4-6 weeks, 200$ just in case, oh well. How about you? Tell us your experience, and please don't turn this into Xbox360 Vs PS3, that's another subject altogether.
First one RROD'd, second one kept freezing. Third one is running fine so far, probably because I've taken to using something more reliable for the majority of multi-platform games.
Mine died after about 2 1/2 years. I was quite impressed with the repair though, I had it back in a little over a fortnight with a months live subscription to cover that time so I shouldn't moan about it too much. I've had the replacement a year now with no problems yet.
Mine where all RROD, I ended up having to pay for the first repair but got my money back after Microsoft changed their policy. When I got the last one back, I went online to register it and to my surprise the warranty was resetted to a full three year, I'm not sure they were suppose to do that but I won't complain.
my girlfriends 360 just RR'd a couple days ago, so we took it into the local shop- it'll cost about $60 and 2 weeks. She isn't concerned about the cost, she is just bummed that she will be without the 360 for 2 weeks. I bought it for Christmas last year- I asked her what she wanted most and that was her #1 choice (Plus a year of XBox Live). She's awesome.
had to send 2 360's in for RROD and E74 about 1 1/2 years ago. have the new jasper chip and it runs cool and silent.
If my XBOX ever breaks for any other reason, I'm towel trickin' it to see if I can melt the chip off and get an RROD. That way they replace for free
Once, the disk tray got stuck OPEN they were really good, they asked no questions, it was under warranty, sent it off. The day before my birthday, 2 weeks later, I was playing it again
I had mine since a couple weeks after launch and it only failed I think last winter(RROD), it did have another one a couple weeks ago, but then it started working and just wouldn't play discs, so I hit it a few times and it started working(glad to see it knows who's boss)
Mine actually did RROD. Shut it down for a while, prepared to send it off, then it started working again.
You still want to send it in as it will eventually happen again. I had RROD 4 times and I'm still going to get another Xbox soon cause most of my friends only have a xbox.
Pretty sure the warranty doesn't cover it anymore. Anyways, if it ain't broke, why fix it? It's been going great for like a solid 6 months.
mine got the RROD twice. but the first time it continued to work, then the second time it just died oh well... still got my ps3
call them or email them your serial number and they will email you a shipping label. You can figure out what to do from then on.
