You might want to get the Shotty as a backup in a couple levels, though you can safely stick with the AR for now.

Yeah. I find auto-rifle works best unless you like the up-in-your-face type gameplay. Some people like the close range, powerful weapons. Whatever suits you best and gets you the best results.

Skill level matching disparities, please read Hey everyone, We're aware of the discrepancy in matchmaking and we ask for your patience for a little while. Currently, there's a huge influx of new players, and comparatively, only a small amount of players from the Canada preview. Because we focus matchmaking on speed over accuracy, we are intentionally trying to get players into games instead of wait on the loading screen. We're continuing to monitor what this means and are talking about a few options to address this, but for now, we'd like to give it some time for new players to naturally fall into different skill levels first. What's worth upgrading for the auto rifle? Damge obviously, but are the clip size and rate of fire upgrades worthwhile?
Jesus christ, I actually got matched with players my level!!! I played Phil and other lv12 players. Although i didn't win, but at least I died and there was a challenge involved! Much better, hopefully a sign of things to come.
