Thanks for the screens. If I could ask a question and please recognize that I only ask it to find a happy middle ground: You're obviously pretty freaking good at the game, Tony. Now, if you were matched with level 18's at your skill level, you would crush them. So what's the compromise between being matched with 3 level 18's who are 3000+ skill level below you and being matched with those who have equal skill but might have higher character levels? The answer for it being based on both is not perfect, as there are probably only a handful of users who are level 18 with 5500 skill. You would never find a match.
The thing is, those level 50's may be close in skill level, HOWEVER, their gear is completely upgraded, giving them a HUGE advantage. That needs to be taken into consideration.
I just tried a practice game with bots, and I find the controls absolutely horrible. It's so easy to accidentally zoom in the weapon when you want to attack, and attack when you want to look around. I'm struggling to even get a good aim at the bots. Am I missing something here? There aren't different control schemes are there?
You only zoom when you tap the middle of the screen. Firing button is on the right side of the screen. You just need to adjust.
Allen, the skill based matchmaking still makes no sense. I think EVERYONE here would rather face someone their level with a an incredibly high skill level than a level 50 with a low skill level.
Well it's just that as a level 18, it is obviously very hard to take down those 20-30 levels above you. Now so when I do actually have a full energy charge; I'm forced to compete with those that are far more equipped than I. In which case the strong only gets stronger, while I am left with the mere 50 credits or less. Now if I were to be paired with similar leveled people, I would actually be rewarded for my efforts and achievements. With the current procedure, it will always be one vastly overpowering the other; whether it be me crushing(?) fellow level 18s or those level 45s one-shotting me. But if the process were to be changed where level was prioritize over skill, then I would grow faster, out of the level 18s, to equal grounds where I belong(?) and quit the punishment for being skilled(?). I understand that you are trying to make this a very fun experience for all but the level 18s that cannot compete should really be slowed down for the more competitive higher levels; training if you must see it that way. And since levels are prioritize, it would make for an even more competitive experience since there would be no excuse for one equal player being ridiculously bad at the game (imagine the sore loser scene if you must). The benefits and potential that I see in this is far greater than the current system that we have, in my opinion. I have great respect for the ngmoco team, they're cunning, clever, and best of all: willing to adapt. P.S: The "(?)" are layed out because I do not like to brag. It has a tendency to backfire on me.
I would join in on that argument [supporting it] but I've given up on the idea. I made that argument so many times and I got nowhere :/
turn off zoom, increase sensitivity, and turn on auto-fire that will help. Some of it is just slowness due to being level 1. arn
Exactly. I'm level 30 and have probably a 0% chance of winning against the level 50's, but always get matched with them due to my 6500 skill level. People like me complaining about playing level 50's while they're a much lower level have legitimate complaints. If people were complaining about being matched with people the same level as them, but with +3000 skill level, people will say "Try sucking less."
+1 on the last part. I'm ok with being paired with higher levels. I have my ways of killing them. It also makes you improve faster.
but if you can't beat those people, you will drop in skill and be matched with less skilled players (either those who suck or those who have worse gear or a combination of the two). arn
Strongly agree with this statement. If we're matched with someone of equal level and lose, we'd go "awh damn shit he's good, I gotta practice more". But if we're matched with someone of equal SKILL level but 10 levels higher than us and get owned, we'll all feel "Ah **** that dude and his upgraded weapons/armor. I don't stand a chance"
No dude cus if the geared mattered he wouldn't be that good skill he wud be lowered like with me dude u played me I fair realy good in my matches and I don't use any gear at all
I see the idea on why its based on skill, but, if you're playing against someone 5+ levels higher than you, they obviously have further upgraded gear. And yes, it is possible to still win, but it makes it more frustrating/unnecessarily hard to have to do just that. Yea I know, I dropped my skill a bit so I wouldn't be paired with 50s. Worked a little bit, I still find it stupid that I have to do that just to avoid being paired with them. On a separate note, I think I've decided that the noobiest gear combo I've come across is Infiltrator + PC. Nothing against Infil, but when paired with the overpowered PC its just flat-out annoying.
