@Mosaic, cloaking depends directly on the power-up. Without it, there's no cloaking. I'm a Sniper, not Sentry with maxed out cloaking. Was hoping for complete invisibility but that'll do. IIRC, Sniper has ++clo as opposed to +clo on Sentry. I also thought Snipers had ++ts. If it did, it doesn't help as much.
Regarding the PC OP. So far I've asked twice for people to tell me why they think PC is OP (and don't tell me you don't think it is and that it's just for noobs). If someone can use it well, and said someone is a noob, as one claims, then it's the weapon (or the suit, but I've yet to hear complaints about suits) that's OP (since it's not the noob). I've yet to hear any good reason other than that it has high fire rate at very high levels. I've also heard the low spread complaint, but that does not really count that much. A sniper rifle - existing in other games - would have no spread, and a lot more powerful than a shotgun would have - unless point blank, you don't see other people complain about sniper rifles in other games. I'd suggest then you just treat the PC like a sniper rifle - strafe, and get some more experience on dodging it, and stop claiming it's OP or for noobs. It seems people's only complaint is that it has high damage (and yet a high level vap can one-shot kill), and you don't want other people to use the weapon that has the highest damage, which is like telling soldiers on the battlefields to go in combat with only pistols instead of semi/full automatics - you're expecting them to make themselves vulnerable for you. And, for those that want to say that it has high firing rate after this post, and never bring it up before - you didn't even know it. My point is, if you want people to stop using it, start saying why it's for noobs/OP (again, if a noob can use a normal weapon to kill you, he's either not a noob or the weapon's OP), so ngmoco can maybe fix it or people can quit using it. And if it's because that person's high level, then it's high levels and has nothing to do with the weapon. If you can't say why, you just sound like sour grapes. Good to hear some feedback about that armor. Thanks! And yes, it does have ++ts and ++ clo, to compensate for the -def.
+infinity "0MG PC N00BZ!!" "RAWR 0MFG?!? STOOPID AR FR00B!!" "OMFG YOU SHIELD CAMPING NOOOB!!!" Enough already. If they win, they aren't a noob. Don't be pissy because you lost.
Fine, let's make this easier for you. I haven't hear one good reason why PC is for noobs or OP. And if you want to say it's just for noobs and that PC is a normal weapon not OP, then my question is, why is it a noob can kill you with a normal weapon? Give people reasons why it's OP (because either it is, or the person using it is not a noob), so ngmoco might fix it or people can stop using it; or STFU. No, this is not directed at you except the first sentence, so you don't need to explain. Exactly.
If you're fast (if that's your play style), you avoid getting hit, you don't need to worry about def. Again, if you're fast, you don't get hit, you can kill someone even with lower TS (because they can't hit you). dvessel has said his ++TS didn't help anyways. Otherwise, use something else. At least I think that's what Mosaic meant.
Let's be honest, targeting (TS) does absolutely NOTHING. it really makes no difference. If you're fast, you can outrun the opponent, including shield blasts. In short, what reinhart said. Didn't see your post there.
PC is a BIT overpowered... I must confess that I do believe that the PC is overpowered, and here is my own reasoning. The game features a number of different weapons with different strengths and weaknesses. Of these, the PC is inarguably the best weapon for close quarters. This is not a problem; this is exactly how it should be. The PC should not just be the best up close; it should be the best by A LOT. The issue that I have is that the PC is not just the best up close, it is the best at mid-range and is even decently effective at long range. This is due primarily to the huge spread of the gun's bullets and its seemingly incredible strength even when one is caught near the edge of its blast radius. This, in and of itself, would not necessarily be an issue. However, due to the strength of the gun and the ease with which it is used (ease of aiming relative to other guns), one of the most effective strategies in the game (definitely at low levels, still at mid levels, and STILL decently at high levels) is to run up close, strafing and jumping while continuously firing the gun, hoping that you hit your opponent more than he hits you. AGAIN, if this is the way someone wants to play, then the PC is definitely their weapon of choice. However, the frustration for many lies in the fact that other strategies (sniping, hit and run), while viable in this game, simply fail to be as effective as charging with the PC. For perspective, I am a level 22 sniper, ~4500 skill. I am not great, but I like to think that I am above average. I originally started upgrading my defense on the standard armor and strength of the PC, and played the charge-and-blast game. However, the sniper outfit looked really cool, and I figured that with the targeting upgrades and an upgraded rifle and vaporizer, I could have fun with a long distance game. WHICH I do - I am getting better and better at picking my fights from a distance, and trying to nail PC wielders before they can get close and destroy me. However, I will admit that I sometimes get frustrated when, even with my fully-upgraded rifle and targeting systems, I can't directly hit someone in the head enough times before they get in close, usually missing me even with their HUGE shot radius, and still seal the deal on me. Especially on levels like Tank, where long-distance shooting is very difficult, I get destroyed, sometimes by players ~1000-1500 points below me. Also, due to the speed with which people regenerate, people will often regenerate near me or I near them, at which point my life is already basically over. In matches with no PC wielders, I often find that I have a lot more fun. NOT because I do well... coachmcgurck (GREAT reference) beat me pretty badly in a mostly rifle match. However, I like taking advantage of aiming and zooming, and I think other people do as well. This is rarely possible in a PC match, however, and the match usually becomes jumping, dodging, and gunning. However, this is the way the game is, and I realize that nobody likes a complainer about things being cheap or... I daresay... noobish. I am just stating my opinion, which is that I would prefer the game to encourage other styles of play, not just charge and blast. Whew, that was a lot. Thoughts? How would you address this? Is it even an issue? Am I a lame-o complainy-pants?
