I agree that the shield-bashing has gotten much more prevalent lately. I re-installed Eliminate the other day after finding out about the new maps, and I just wanted to give it a try to see if anything's really changed/improved. As much as I hate the mid-level rocket spammers, at the end of the day, I'd still easily win those games against those idiots (provided my 3G doesn't grind to a halt from the lag those rocket spammers cause), but what I found really, really annoying since I restarted playing Eliminate, and getting close to back at my old skill level after doing some skills tanking to level up, are guys that are 7000 and 8000+ skill level players that rely almost exclusively on the beserker shield to rack up kills. Yesterday, I ended up playing a world match that was 1v1 in Tank, and the guy shield-bashed me 6 times. Within 7 or 8 seconds of the match starting, he blind-sided me with a shield-bash, grabbed health, and then ran to grab the other shield... and repeated process over and over again. Obviously in tank, even with the new redesign, it's just too damn easy to do this. And unless he had a beserker shield power up, he ran and hid like a scared schoolgirl. He ended up winning 6-2, with all of his kills thru the shield. So freaking cheap. What's worse was in the next match in Runoff, it was basically the same thing with the two players in the match doing their best to protect and grab the shield. I ended up second in that match picking off those guys when they were fighting to shield camp, but still didn't end up on top because the guy who won managed to get in like 5 shield-bashes. After that, I decided that I had to join in on the shield bashing since I had it with getting rammed 4 or 5 times a match without dishing any punishment in return. In almost every match that I've played since I've restarted this game, much of the fight centers around the shield. Even Runoff, which I guess was supposed to be a bigger arena with a bit more variety to potential strategies, ends up being a clusterf*ck fight around that power-up area w/ the shield and damage amplifier. I frankly don't like that map at all. I agree that it's not all that fun lately, and winning by shield camping/bashing is cheap.
we don have a choice thats tge part of the strategy game that make ngmoco unique right?? im mad at shield skill too but we cant do about it men merry xmas

I don't know where this lag that people are talking about. Are you playing on a weak connection? Or are you in a country somewhat far from the U.S? I've had slight lag before when I was mooching off my neighbor's WiFi, lol, but since I got my own WiFi connection, I haven't lagged one bit. But I have noticed that this game has been using up more memory than usual, specifically after the in-app downloads that ngmoco has pushed the past few days.
even if were mad about bash shield it just depend on how ngmoco will take action but it seems they just add it because of more excitement
LOL this game is really buggy now. First, I got a push invite from someone not on my friend list, but a follower. I checked. Then, I played one round where the opponent forfeited instantly, and I got 78 credits, but LOST SKILL. How the hell do you lose skill when you win?
I'm not sure what it is about the connection, but I've been lagging bad since yesterday. I'm on AT&T uverse wifi (pretty frickin strong) and I lagged out of 2 games and had connection interrupted once. I have been using the infantry proto with sprinter and I swear I have been moving slower than a new tanker gear armor. I have also been glitching unbelievably. Lol I was running in the runoff... Haha and I went up the ramp towards the health. Right before I got there I just stopped going and everything froze. When everything came through I was underwater with beserker shield by the underwater elevator? I was like WTF? I'm really hoping that ng fixes the performance of this game. Because while double creds and half off prices are nice, if I can't actually play the game what's the point. And @ chibi: that could actually be the solution. Maybe making the shield a limited commodity we can cut out the shield bashers. Maybe make it appear 3-4 times and at different places randomly never the same place so that people can't camp on them. It could work IMO. Good idea chibi.
Yea, I too have been noticing a bit of lag tonight in the game. Unfortunately, I lost about 800 skill points due to connection drops tonight. Actually, one was due to me having to take a call... but the other 3 times were dropped connections, and in all 3 of those matches I was winning at the time. What I still don't understand is why I lose MORE skill points if I drop out of a game (assuming, of course I don't join in a match late in progress) than if I finish last. I know ngmoco considers it a forfeit, but in a full match, it appears pretty consistent lately in my matches that if I finish first, I increase about 100 skill points; second, increase 30-50; third, lose 30-50; and last, lose 100-130. But if I drop out, I always lose about 200 skill points. Why punish someone for dropping out of a game, especially when it seems pretty obvious from many of the posts that it's out of their control, and due to lag, bad connections, the app crashing, etc.? Wouldn't it seem more logical just to put him in last place for dropping out of the match, and thus lose that amount of skill points... and not more on top of that? Obviously, it's a pain trying to regain any lost skill points because of dropped games, since it seems you almost need to win 2 games to make up for that 1 dropped game. Just ranting... and Merry Christmas everyone.
