    It's possible.

There was a free app released back in april that allows you to take a picture of your face, then the camera will automatically detect your face if you hold the camera in front of your face.

It works very well, I just downloaded it. Although it is very basic, I was quite suprised that it was possible, I thought the hardware had to change, but really, it's all down to the coding.

In my mind, this opens a whole load of doors to what could be created using the face recognition. How about a photo app that adds accessories to your face when you hold your device pointing at your face. Or a safe-app which allows you to store passwords, photos and other information with the security (and fun) of using the face recognition.

Here is the link for the code: http://blog.beetlebugsoftware.com/, the developer has an MIT Lisence, which from my research on wikipedia, means that it is free to distribute, and anyone can use it. Although I am not to sure about it, so I would reccommend reading up about it and contacting the developer before using the code.

And here is a link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=309493783&mt=8 to the free face recognition app named 'Picture Me' in the app store. The app is very basic, so don't expect much. But remember, it is free and definately worth checking out if you are interested.

Tell me your opinion, ideas and what you think about it.
    Cheers,
    LBG :)

I think iPhoto has that feature, except you select a face, and it scans all the other pics for it.

Wow, that's really neat. I wouldn't count on facial recognition getting good enough that it can say, accurately position ear rings on your ears anytime soon... But that's pretty impressive for an iPhone app. For comparison, look at some of the "augmented reality" flash apps like the GE SmartGrid one-

Requires a 8.5x11 sheet of printed paper with a large and well defined black square on it to position anything accurately. It's really worth screwing with if you're bored, when I showed this to my mom I think I blew her mind.
