I was mocking one of the earlier posters, but I guess you guys did not know that because you probably didn't read the whole topic like I did.
Whatever you say buddy, I'm not the one trying to play internet bully Generally, the higher the post count, the more active the user is. You guys have been around a few days, doesn't qualify you as active quite yet. Unfortunately, not all people think logically. Wow, you're my hero.
And yes, everyone is new at some point. I did not have money to get an iPhone until December so obviously I would not have joined this site without having money for an iPhone, but hey, good for you. You have been here from day 1. I bet when you tell all the ladies that at the next party you're at, they'll be all over you.
Oh I am sorry. I just assumed with 4k in posts you'd been here for a year or two, not a couple months. Way to look even sadder.
Short Recap: There is an instantaneous impact if you have a free+ in-apps business model and a delayed impact if you are using a normal premium business model. iBomber ended number #2 in the entire App Store and stayed there for over week before they switched back to free and they accumulated millions of downloads in the process, and they used the delayed approach or customer acquisition approach as a strategy and they are now building an in-app model that they will push through FAAD to maximize their revenue. So again as long as you have a good app you are pretty much good to go! That said we're giving out some free slots for TA devs with good apps so feel free to submit! A TA dev already benefited from the offer and his app will be featured shortly! So i just read 99.9% of this thread. I have a variety of opinions - and since ICS is the one that bumped it for me to read, i'm asking a few questions. How come when i click on info - i get a press release page. http://www.freeappaday.com/info.html But when i use the link you posted in this thread - with the App submisison guidelines on the BLOG, it LOOKS like IT is the info page (at least on my page - the Info button is highlighted, but the featured game is from a few days ago too). But yet, I can't get to that page at all as a random browser? http://freeappaday.com/dev_blog.html That is where this statement is: You can't get to that page from the site - so unless a developer magically knows that addy they don't know? As a visitor - i want to know that the developers are paying to be featured. I'm trying to figure out how i can help the indie developers, i share when i love a game/app, and will be featuring the other Free App site on my BLOG. Not that i generate a lot of traffic, but well, I'm trying! LOL!! I also would like to thank all the developers that have paid to have their apps featured. There are a few that clicked with me and I wish i had bought them instead of getting them free. Which is why i try to share the ones with friends I think that they might really like. I also understand my thanks doesn't get you a meal out - but I appreciate the effort and it does make me look at your other games if i click with your featured one. I'm going to get better at this too. This was an interesting marketing read... i agree that ROI numbers are missing for the prices being charged. But that is something the developer has to decide for themselves - and hopefully ask for info before agreeing to the terms. ANYWAY.... guess i should bail on the developer forum since i'm a lowly end user that has no desire to code anything. (i tried that for awhile, and it wasn't for me!)
That second link above leads to our blog post outlining our experience in placing Zombie Pizza with Free App A Day. Since our blog received several hits today from this forum, and since the TA community might have questions about our participation in Free App A Day, and since this thread has already reached epic length, I opened up another thread ("Appy Entertainment & Free App A Day) in this forum where I'll try to field your comments. Thanks! (Edit: Reading some of the thread I see that the chart position of Zombie Pizza was thrown around as evidence for the benefits (or lack thereof) of this system. For the record -- we were outside of the Top 200 before the promotion, and we went out of the Top 200 after the promotion. But our sales (and even the downloads of the the free Zombie Pizza Lite) are up considerably since the promotion. Ranks don't tell the whole story ... if you want to know what's going on, come to the source (us!), we're happy to share.)
iBomber and FAAD Graphs This FAAD thing is a work in progress but here is a good example with iBomber: http://www.topappcharts.com/316774112/app-details-ibomber.php It was out of the top of the charts they ran a FAAD campaign, stayed free for 7days and on top of the charts and iBomber is now climbing up in the charts and back in the top 50 arcade and overall climbing! The big deep on the charts is when he made the switch! But again this FAAD thing mainly works with good games and it also appears that it's good thing to remain a little longer free on the charts, even though I would slightly disagree with that fact from a monetization point of view....
EXACTLY. Mainly works with good games, and most of the games you guys are promoting are utter **** hence why those devs wont get any more effectivo.
Proof from devs http://www.pocketgamer.biz/r/PG.Biz/...ws.asp?c=18003 http://www.pocketgamer.biz/r/PG.Biz/...ws.asp?c=17729 http://goldenboat.wordpress.com/2010...es-free-pizza/ Just found some devs who said it helped.
