Can't wait to see the reactions and impressions here. I've sunk 8 hours into the game and felt like I only scratched the surface. And now with the Advanced Edition content coming, it's going to be like a whole new experience Fans of space games, roguelikes, tactical strategy, unexpected "oh shit" moments, this game was made for you
Me too! Easter Holidays are just around the corner. 6 days for release and 11 days to play FTL without having to go to work!!! Have a look at the images I posted a few hours ago. They've had to adapt a mouse interface with many selectable onscreen icons to a touch interface. They've also had to add buttons onscreen which were keyboard inputs in the PC version (PAUSE button, for example). I'm sure they struggled when the two ships were onscreen because if they kept the 50/50 ratio, both ships were too small to select rooms and personnel in them. That's why they put the zooming option of one ship or the other. And finally, this all happened on an iPad. Imagine how difficult (impossible) it would have been on an iPhone screen. I understand your frustation, it happened the same to me with Codea for iPad (a game dev tool). In the end, I bought an iPad...
I wonder how it will be on the iPad Mini. A bit smaller than the iPad but a bit bigger than the iPhone...
The PC version stands at 166MB without the extra content that will be added next week. So I'm guessing it's gonna be around 200-300MB
Woah, it looks so good and it seems like the controls are spot on even though I find it a bit weird that the weapon interface is taking half of the screen.
Well, to be fair, I wouldnt compare the Mini's screen size to that of an iPhone. I have a Mini Retina, and I've never had an issue with playing a game due to screen size. There are many games (usually strategy) that I didn't enjoy on my miniature iPhone 5, but played great on my Mini Retina. I'm sure FTL will work just fine.
From the link that Killercow posted on the 21st, the devs mentioned in the video that testers ran it on their minis and said that they had no problems at all with the interface on the smaller screen.
Fantastic video. I guess the v2.0 new ships and such weren't implement in the preview version yet, because it shows version 1.5.1. Counting down the days until Thursday...
