In the next weeks, we will see the first GameSpy-enabled games in the App Store. That means, GameSpy will help developers getting real-time multiplayer into the games. Link: http://www.slidetoplay.com/story/gdc-2009-gamespy-multiplayer-on-iphone What I don't really understand: does GameSpy also do the server job? That would be cool for small companies or hobby developers, so they would not have to set up and maintain their own sever if GameSpy's pricing would be affordable.
i imagine it would be same as the game spy we all used for quake 2 and team fortress. it was a handly little app and website. used it all the time for capture the flag matches. game spy finds all the hosted matches and provides links to connect right up to them.
