Game Impressions NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I just completed Gene Effect ((((( I thought for some reason I had still 3-4 mission to do.... Sigh sob.... One of the best, if not the best for my tastes, game I ever played in the last years. I loved everything about the game. The atmosphere, the setting, the graphics, the sounds, the music, the controls, the gameplay and the story (which in the end turns out to be pretty great IMHO). Please, dear Lightstorm3D, tell me Gene Effect 2 or 'season 2' or whatever continues the story is already in the works and almost done....I really can't wait to....go on let's say... You have a fan here, I'll surely buy whatever you have in store in the future. The ending was like....O_O Amazing game, really, and a great value. As soon as it will be updated, I'll hunt for every Artifact and try hard mode. But, in the end....I would really like to continue.... Thanks.
Ha... Congrats Pitta! Im really not wanting to complete the game either... It helps that the levels take about 20+ minutes to complete, makes it so I can't really play unless I've got the time to actually get sucked in. I'm still on Mission 17... But over the next two days, I've got a bit of free time, and know I'm going to end up finishing it. Thankfully there's the Hard Difficulty, and all the medals to try and get. But no matter how it ends, I can completely see myself hoping for Gene Effect 2... =oP Hope this sells well enough to push Lightstorm that far.
God... SHIT! Mission 19... This'll be the 8th time trying to get through it... It's destroying me! Gahhhhhhh! LOVIN it though! =oD
Phew... Got through it after deciding to NOT go after all the relicts... Thats what was really making it difficult. That, and the fact that in one section, you could hear the green orbs break off of a bush, but it looked like it was still on the bush, then it disappeared after all of a sudden, it collided with the ship. Strange... Anyway... Archive for Mission 19... FANTASTIC!!! Really, I wish there was a graphic novel, or some sort of accompanying anime flick telling more of the stories. I'm ABSOLUTELY LOVING the story. It's so great. Even though there's quite a few grammatical errors... It's very easy to look past them. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!
Game Impressions I thought you would have loved it I got that bug too...the spores are invisible till they pop...I just predicted the trajectory in that section. Hironic that while you found everything everywhere while I struggled to find the artifacts, that mission is the only one where I found everything Must be because I replayed that mission countless times. I warn you...you will finish it soon but you are in for one hell of a ride. And yes...the story, started as atmospheric but pretty standard, turned out to be really great and immersive...I really felt like part of the Triton crew. After finishing the game I reread all the story and, thinking it is pretty nice and surely above the standard (so called triple A production included) I thought how the game would be managed if done by an huge studio like, for example, Bioware. Probably they would have substituted the logs with huge photorealistic cutscenes but I do not think the final result would have been better, on the contrary. And I found in the game a sense of total cohesion that I now struggle to find in huge productions.
They just started a 'Hints' section for the game on their site http://www.geneeffect.com/?page_id=311

I'm working on re-typing the entire text of the game for you. I should be able to have it by tomorrow afternoon (hopefully). WOOTWOO!! =oD **edit** In case anyone's wondering... I re-typed up the Chronicles sections (though Mission 19), but I still need to re-type the Missions Briefings and Triton Logs. Hope I can get it done quickly. I still need to complete the game too so that I can get the last couple of Briefings, Logs, and Chronicles, but I still hope to have it done by tomorrow afternoon. =oP And BTW - Mission 20... ERRIE AS ALL HELL! Such a GREAT atmosphere! =oD
NOOOOOOOOOOO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAAAAAAT HAAAAAAAAAAAPPEEEEEEEEEEEEENEEEEEEEEEEEED?!?!?!?!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damnit what a great game. Now... time to get back to typing. And then, hopefully, if I have it all completed by tomorrow, I'll be able to start playing the game on Hard Difficulty. =oD Gah... so great. SO SO SO GREAT!!!
Given the attention received from this thread, I'm drawn to the bandwagon. I'll wait for the universal build to be released and pop open my wallet then...
Bwahaha, you bet-cha! Glad I could help you make the decision to get it. Really, if you're at all interested in well told stories, action adventure, cave-mining or exploration games... You should definitely enjoy it. =oP
One of the major hooks for me was mention of this game in similar vein as Waking Mars, which is one of my all time faves for a game on any platform. Of course, the game's high end graphics and cool presentation didn't hurt either.
