Love the way you talk about the game syntheticvoid #I got this awhile ago and am enjoying it immensely... and thanks for tipping me in the direction of Robo5, I missed it somewhere along the line but picked it up straight after hearing the way you spoke about it. Thankyou.
Found the bug today and fixed it. It´s not included in the update for iPad coming today/tomorrow but should be included after that. Thanks for reporting!
Got delayed a bit with progress Tried level 4 mission last night and died while going through a tight passage way Have to try with better concentration The mood on level four is starting to scare me but in a good way Great great game!!!
Alrighty... I finished with the grammatical fixings, and sent them off to Lightstorm3D. I was told that their update was not approved because of a minor issue, but that it has been fixed, and that the update was re-submitted yesterday. So, unfortunately, we won't be playing on our iPads in native resolution for a couple more days. Hopefully Apple pushes the update through quickly, since it was just a little issue... they usually do for that sort of thing... but with Apple, I guess you never really know. Anyway... I've also read some great reviews for Gene Effect on Appspy and iPhoneGamer UK... both gave the game 5 out of 5 stars... and SlidetoPlay gave it 4 out of 4 and gave it their 'Must Have' award... even though they had issues with the grammar, they still gave it a perfect score, which is fantastic. It's great to see reviewing sites giving Gene Effect the scores it deserves, especially after reading some of the reviews in the US iTunes store from people who obviously haven't played through much of the game, or gone through most of the main menu, or found out that there's relics and artifacts hidden very well throughout the game... it's a shame. I know most people here on TA don't pay much attention to the iTunes reviews, but there's a WHOLE LOT of people out there who do... and I really hope it doesn't effect sales... I NEED to know the rest of the story!! I NEED CHAPTER 2!!!!
come on apple hurry the heck up and release the universal update already JEEEEEEZ, i just wanna play it!
Still loving the game....just haven't had as much time to get through it. I like the difficulty, but at the same time I do wish there were checkpoints. I wouldn't say the levels are "long" but it is disheartening to work your way through 90% of a level without a hitch but then suddenly accidently get too close (and too fast) to a mine that comes flying into you with no time for you to escape and inducing sudden death. Wouldn't be so bad if I had longer stretches of time to play the game, but when when I do get time to play through a level and something like this happens, it is a bit frustrating. Again, that goes against the "hardcore" nature inside of me. Just as I get less and less time to game, it's hard to not want to bang your head against the wall for doing something stupid when you're pretty sure you're getting close to finishing a level. The atmosphere and lighting in the game is stunning.
wooooooooooooooooooot! BOUGHT! gotta play something at work till i get home to play some diablo 3 hit act 2 last night, such a awesome game.
Well well well...time for another playthrough then!!! Just fired up the game after the update and menus are waaaay crispier on iPhone 4S. Back exploring!!!
And this, ladies and gentlemen is how you spend $5 on the App Store with a smile on your face and have a warm, fuzzy feeling inside every time you see that little "Gene Effect" icon sitting on your springboard.
Re-played some missions after the update. Every (minor) quirk I had with this awesome game has been addressed: finally it supports proper multitasking and device rotation, everything is, if possible, even crispier. Light effects are more subtle now (and everything is a bit darker). I do not have an iPad at disposal at moment, I'm curious how it is now on the large screen...must be really beautiful. I hope to see a chapter 2 or GE2 soon enough!!!
148Apps seems to completely disagree with people here But I actually agree with the replay value they said to be low. I can't see myself replaying levels once I've finished this. Actually haven't played this in a while, guess I should start working on it since this week I got no new apps.
ha... funny... I've played, and replayed pretty much every single level at least 4 times. And now I'm going through it again on my iPad so that I can unlock hard mode and play it again on the bigger screen... Reading the 148apps review, it really sounds like they made it to Mission 5 and then wrote the review up.... The whole last half of the game can get pretty damn intense. I can't wait to replay it all on the Hard Difficulty. Anyway... 148apps hasn't really been a site a count on when it comes to reviews for at least the last year... if not year and a half... most of the time they seem completely out of touch with the true meat of the games that they 'review'
