The problem is you don't recognize how much more code is being emulated and the overhead that additional code has on our limited spec devices. MAME is an open source project whose goal is to emulate as MANY arcade motherboards as possible. Goal number 1 is the amount of boards that are emulated, goal #2 is emulating the code as close to the original as possible, goal #3 is optimization. Goal #1 always trumps goal #2, goal #2 always trumps goal #3.
LOL i actually own both of those. I have the run n gun JAMMA board (sound issues though) and the wrestlefest jamma. I also happen to own wrestlmania on sega naomi, although i don't like it as much as wrestlefest. Also happen to own NBA Jam tournament edition, i actually like it much better than run n gun.
Finally got Playchoice 10 working. As someone pointed out, I just had to keep downloading the bios file from different sources until I found one that worked.
That's awesome. I'm a newbie to all of this lol. Can you PM me with any tips or advice of how I can get the roms for run & gun. I'll take NBA Jam TE as well lol. Appreciate it
Didn't mean to sound ungrateful -- I missed iMAME last year, so this is a godsend, I'm absolutely thrilled. Was hoping (not bitching) that a tweak to the ARM (I'm a layman) could make the older games run more smoothly and then this would be pure heaven.
Just wondering... I've been googling for about 2 hours now and have to ask, is there even any Playchoice 10 roms compatible with this version of imame (0.149) if so I'd love a response or pm. I'm waiting to play SMB 1-3 on my non-jailbroken iPhone 5 [EDIT] Okay I finally got it all working but now how to actually play it?
Which is why I just go to the sites I know and pick and chose my favorites by memory. I also use some top arcade lists with screenshots to help jog my memory one ones I maybe played but forgotten the title of. I already got 720, Altered Beast, Bad Dudes, Bubble Bobble, Donkey Kong, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, Pacman, Magic Sword, Shinobi, TMNT, Simpsons, X-men, Sunset Riders and too many others to list working. And adding more daily. It's just a slow one at a time thing, but I enjoy it.
speaking of. Anyone know if a couple good arcade fan sites that I could read about/see screenshots of arcade games from about 1985 - 1995? That was my golden era I think. The era games like Mortal Kombat 1, Narc, Shinobi, and Dragon's Lair came out.
If its slow, just put the games you actually want on high priority or have it skip the ones you don't want
Did you have success finding a parent or a working PC10 file? If the latter, then open it up and compare the files - you can fix others this way.
doing that plus I have decided to download a few I cannot wait for directly. just a question, somebody mentioned Zelda on mame .... ???
So now that the app is fully loaded with retro goodness, it's time to take this a step further! Is it possible to change the app icon + app name?
I found this is on the internet- tried on my eyepad and eyefone, did not seem to work: http://gigaom.com/2010/09/28/quick-tip-change-iphone-app-icons-without-jailbreak/ It doesn't work with official apps (either the default set or Remote.app, etc.), unfortunately, so you won’t be able to completely customize your theme. But at least you don’t have to wait around for developers to change the icons on apps that offer great functionality but dismal aesthetics. Here’s how it works on an iPhone 4: Install iPhone Explorer (free, Mac/PC). Plug in your iPhone and launch iPhone Explorer. Navigate to “phone name/Apps/appname/appname.app,” replacing the italicized values with your own, of course. Backup the “[email protected]” file you find there by dragging it to a directory of your choice in Finder. Name your replacement icon (which must be a .PNG file, size 114×114, 72 PPI with no transparency and no layers) “[email protected]” (case-sensitive). Drag your replacement to that folder in iPhone Explorer, delete the original file, and manually power down and power back up your iPhone. If you’re using an iPhone 3G or 3GS, instead of looking for and replacing filename “[email protected],” you’ll be working with “icon.png” and your replacement should be 57×57, not 114×114. iPhone 4 and latest gen iPod touch users can also use this to replace not-so-nice looking icons that haven’t yet been updated for the Retina Display. Just replace the “icon.png” file with a new 114×114-sized version. That’s what I did with the PicPosterous app for the purposes of this article, and it works great, as you can see in the screenshot. And for nervous users, don’t worry. As you don’t have root access to your device, you can’t accidentally remove any crucial elements of your device’s OS. You also don’t have to worry about those rounded edges on your icons. Just use a square image and iOS will round the corners for you.
I actually kinda like it. Maybe "gridlee" can be brand name for ios mame like xerox is for photo copies. Anyone remember the name of an arcade game it was a 2D platformer about an armored gladiator or knight but it wasn't a fighter it was single player. You progressed like a normal platformer. And you'd have to aim high/mid/low and pieces of armor would fly off you or your opponent.
