I think the swipe/gesture based sword fights could be very good indeed. Someone cited Samurai 1 as an example that didn't work all that well but there are clear differences. The way the dev describes it, this is more like real time 1:1 tracking - being able to completely control where you attack rather than following only pre-defined animations. Combine this with the slower pace of the fight (as seen in the trailer) and it becomes obvious how this could be much better to control than Samurai 1. Finally it appears like you don't move the character whilst in fights, so that eliminates another problem with Samurai 1 - accidentally causing the character to move instead of attacking. In regards to depth and gameplay i'd like to point out something that many of you have either forgotten or missed: they originally demoed this with live online multiplayer via game center, which they have confirmed for a free update. Potentially that could be great fun and add a whole wealth of depth and longevity to the game. Multiple free content updates are mentioned too - things like new areas to explore, new gear and new enemies - all good stuff. The new castle shown in the video has way more variety than Epic Citadel and I estimate it must be quite a bit bigger too. (in particular look at the hall/lobby at 00:10, the ruins at 00:14 and the castle front at 00:20) The actual traversable world of Epic Citadel was actually quite small and not very varied. The one thing i'm not too sure about is the movement and exploration. Sounds a bit lame to me - why not include the controls from the Epic Citadel demo as an option at least?
if they do not include the joystick there might be complaints in appstore reviews so i think they will add it later as an update (if not included already)
This game actually sounds, from the interview like a game from Suda51 and Shinji Mikami (creator of Resident Evil and Vanquish) for the Gamecube: "Killer 7" There were paths and you went down a path, it showed your character move based on the selected branch. When in battle, it switched to first person and you would aim and shoot. The title was intense and I liked it a lot. It's not well known, but from my guesstimation if it's anything like that I'll love this. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=video&cd=2&ved=0CDQQtwIwAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D7rhvLebx1iA&rct=j&q=killer%207%20YouTube&ei=CG3UTLXSD4nksQOo7-GNCw&usg=AFQjCNFuZXqSG12uh1shLTiiHy2xRaB1FA WATCH THE 1:17 mark and onward That makes me think this is how infinity blade will work, if so I could see it rocking!
I think we're onto something. Everyone seems to reference those well known titles. For some aching reason, from the interview describing infinity blade - I really do see the gameplay being like Killer 7. It's us true gamers that know these avant guard titles and appreciate the finer things because we have obscure references to go from. Glad to know I wasn't the only one who loved that game. It was so twisted.

Similarly, final fantasy xiii could be considered almost point and click. The camera wasnt free reign, you moved...well, more like funneled down very linear corridors, fought, watch cutscene...rinse and repeat. There was nothing to the game. There was a crystarium system to level but that was linear. Nothing about the game was free reign. Nowhere to explore, until the very end. The game funneled you through levels structured like tubes, in a way. But still the game was fun. And Vanille didn't bug me, either.
Ever seen a shit game for PSP asking $40? I have. As for the game being worth it, I said 'provided the game is solid' as a qualifier. My point was about pricing.
Pretty hyped up for this. I hope there is a lit of civilian life around the castle with a bit of chit chat between them. The control system sounds cool and refreshing.
Amen. He'll I've seen asstastic games on ds, 360, GBA, windows, almost all platforms sell for 40-60 bucks and they should've been bargain bin titles. This game will be premier. Has Chair or Epic really ever made a flop? Look at their track record. This will be as much a portfolio product as anything else in their line up has been. Apple I'm sure is monitoring this closely. Who knows? Apple hired Matt Cassamassina from IGN, maybe his first big gig with their gaming unit, is input between Epic and Apple for this title. This will be the idevice trump game. AAA I assure you.

These can be offensive or restore health or shield strength." "As the game is an RPG, your character upgrades skills, builds up his stats, collects looted items (swords, shields, armour etc), and unlocks achievements to earn more powerful items. Stats include attributes such as strength, speed, protection and magic." --------magic? Double excited!----------
Cassamassina was hired primarily to improve the featured lists and highlight some decent games (see the 3rd paragraph in this post). He's done pretty good so far, with some great featured lists of games now appearing from time to time and others being regularly updated. Its much better than it was before he joined Apple anyway. Having said that, Apple has hired some game artists and engineers within the last couple of years. I suspect they were hired to improve iOS in terms of gaming - tweaks at OS level can go a long to improving overall gaming performance. I also suspect that this was the team responsible for Game Center and possibly the gyro in the iPhone 4. Yeah Killer 7 was pretty damn twisted, but awesome too. Suda's No More Heroes series on Wii was pretty twisted, insane and hilarious too - not as much as Killer 7 though, but i'm going way off topic now...
i downloaded epic citadel, but it said i didn't have the tech requirements. would this be the same for infinity blade?
For sure, Epic Citadel is just a tech demo with no live sprites or movements of any kind. I highly doubt it would work on yours if Epic Citadel didn't Speaking of, I just got Epic Citadel to not crash on my iPod Touch 4G. It is so fricking amazing, I am really impressed by the graphics.
Seeing you have the 3rd gen ipod touch, this will work of course, you probably just need to update your firmware(which i guess is jailbroken?)
The. iPod. Touch. 3G. 8GB. is. Not. A. 3.rd. Gen. iPod. Touch. How hard is this to understand, people?
This game better have multiple profiles or else... My 5 year old has been waiting for this game ever since he found out the demo in my iPod. I was dumb enough to tell him its not really a game and the full game will be coming soon. Now he cant wait for it. Pretty sure he's gonna grab my iPad and play it every time he can. I had to play first 3 chapters of "Age of zombies" thrice coz he decided to start a new game and wiped out my progress. If the same thing happens here, I'll be really pissed >.<
It will definetly have multiplayer, but maybe not at launch. I mean, they showed it at the Apple Event that it also has achievements and that combo stuff....
I'm talking about multiple save profiles. Some games forget the fact that a few idevice owners have kids and those kids love to mess with iDevices. I dont want to lose my progress just coz my son decided to check out the game.
