I have a iPod Touch 1st Generation and I have a screen protector above the normal screen, but when I took the screen protector off I see air bubbles UNDER the glass screen. See attached pictures. I tried rubbing them out (like with a credit card) but it didnt seem to work. I called Apple Support and I can ship it in or take it to a store. Before I decide what do you forum people suggest before I take it in or whatever...And after that what do you think I should do? Also, will I get a refurbished ipod? And have you had problems with a refurbished ipod?

    1. Please resize pics before dl'ing them here. I mean...that was a friggin' massive pic.

    2. Are you sure they're air bubbles underneath the glass screen? It might be that they have what's called "sun shadows" (or "dust shadows" in some cases). Light reflected differently through the bubble on the protective screen film that you put on the iTouch, which may have caused a "shadow" of sorts to appear on the device's glass screen.

Hate to pile it on, but, seriously topic creator...I mean...wow.

I didn't even know what I was seeing when I opened the topic.

All I saw was your finger and I had to do a double take just to make sure it was, in fact, a finger and not a...well...y'know....:p

I am wondering if perhaps when you tried to pull off the skin, that you pulled off the top layer of a 2 layer screen protector. It's unlikely, but it is possible. Is it the actual glass screen itself that's bubbling? You's sure you got all the screen on off? Because I have no idea how that would happen unless you were in a steaming bathroom or something... I am really sorry to hear that though man, that sucks.

Let me know what happens...I am curious if they will replace it with a 2G because I don't think they have any first gen at the stores anymore.

Well, I will send it in not matter what cause if i taken it to the Apple store they will send it in, or I can send it in my self. So I'll take it to a Apple Store see what they say then I'll decide. Once I get it back I'll see if I got a iPod Touch 2G...I doubt not. They will just repair it I bet. Hopefully I get my money back on it :D :) cause I can get a new iPod Touch 3G.

Glass screen... air bubbles... I mean, even when my iPod went into the washer, I didn't even get any condensation. How do air bubbles just appear out of the blue? Is that even possible with a glass screen?

That's odd. Try cleaning it with a cloth or something.

Yeah, that's the beauty of it. You don't have to send it to HQ or the warehouse or anything. If it's under warranty and they can't fix it, they'll give you one the same day.
