Well, yes, wrong because Creeps is magnitudes better of a game. Forget the graphics, which seem to have bamboozled you, but this is a very old school TD with some of the most annoying "features" of TD (click to collect gold, interface that you constantly fight, no way to do anything when paused, relatively little choice in tower placement, level select that looks cool but gets in the way, no speed adjustment, etc.). For $1, sure, it's a no-brainer, it's cute and fun enough, but The Creeps! is in no danger of being unseated as the best TD I've played on iOS (and among the very best I've played on any platform). Come for the art style, enjoy the catchy music, but don't think it's actually anything you haven't played many times before.
Here is my review after playing the first three levels. Please keep in mind I am a huge TD fan. I literally have every TD game that is available. I don't have time to leave detailed impressions but here's the gist: The Good: The graphics and art design is incredible! I absolutely love it! The developer did an amazing job. Easily one of the best looking games I own. The Bad: The game just isn't that fun. It seems to me that it's a "lite" version of a good tower defense game. There isn't that much too it. Granted, I've only played a few levels, but I find myself becoming bored very easily. Perhaps if they had a "speed up" button it would be a little more fun as you don't have to wait so long for the runners to make their way down the track. I believe the main flaw is that you can't place the towers anywhere you want. You are limited to a variety of predetermined spots that are picked by the developer. This really limits the strategy involved. Also, the towers thus far leave a lot to be desired. I'm assuming new towers open up so I'll post new impressions when I get there.
Creeps as being one of the best TD games on any iOS...? Errrrrrr.... In my opinion...if you look at the top TD games....Sentinel 3 and Tower Defense Lost Earth are among them....but Creeps is far away from that.
I am really enjoying Jelly Defense, but I agree with C.Hannum that it can't compete with The Creeps! (my favourite Tower Defense) when it comes to gameplay. Jelly Defense is a very nice casual Tower Defense though and I would certainly recommend buying it, especially for this low introduction price. The art is cute and playing this game is fun.
Wow, I am loving this SO much! I hate that I'm at work and can only play one or two levels quickly between meetings. Can't wait to get home and play more. Just curious, any plans on continuing to support this with future additions and levels?
Game Impressions The game is beautiful, devs have created a very alive world here. I never played a TD game before (only Plants vs Zombies, but that is different), so I dont know much about the genre, but its fun and something close to a real strategy game, which I played a lot in the past. The only thing that dont like is the music, the rest is wonderfull...
Pause the game while ingame, on the right corner, after taping the pause button, is a melody icon on the top that can be disabled
Your right! That's what happens when you assume ah well. I'm really enjoying this game. The colors and art style really stick out for me. Although I don't think that would be the case if I wasn't playing on an iPad.
Here is very nice video review from App Spy Take a look on the gameplay. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Keeping an eye out for all these 'secrets' I keep reading about too. I think I found one (or partly) but don't know what to do with it yet...?
