In celebration of the upcoming release of Karate Fighter 2.0, I would like to give out 15 promo codes to people that have beaten and enjoyed Karate Fighter Lite . These promo codes will allow users of the US App Store to download a free copy of Karate Fighter 1.5, and get the 2.0 update as soon as it appears.

    To be eligible, you must:
    1. have beaten all three levels of the lite demo on normal or expert level
    2. have posted an itunes review of Karate Fighter Lite
    3. note what you like most about the game, and/or something you'd like added/changed in a future update.

The first 15 folk posting here that meet these criteria will be IM'd a promo code. Good luck!

I lol'ed...oh I have to say I played the lite quite a while ago because I like the retro look but one thing that bugged me was the controls..I would have prefered if there was an old school redjoystick instead

I miss those old joysticks, too.

Analog controls on a touchscreen can work quite well for games designed with them in mind, but I've yet to see a game with a 4 or 8 directional discrete joystick that pulls it off. A lot of folk think they want an old school joystick for these types of games, but even looking at something simple like Namco's Ms PacMan port, it just doesn't work well in practice. Big fat dedicated buttons i.e. those made popular by Zombieville are much more forgiving. In Karate Fighter, the default controls are designed to be usable without having to look at your hands.

    THE MATRIX
    I love it!

BUT, it can improve with the controls. The blood looks pretty realistic, which I like. But, the guy could have a health meter too. The boss battles were fun though. BTW, I left a review. Sent a promo code @ [email protected]
    Tnx

Promo codes delivered to Real Racing Fan and iPro.

It may not be obvious, but there are 7 different control layouts supported in 1.5. However, the default controls are pretty much optimal once you get used to them.

I'm curious if anyone here has managed (or at least attempted) to beat the lite version on Expert difficulty?

Hi Yukata, if you're still following this thread, I was curious what you meant by the phrase, "the guy could have a health meter too." Both the hero and end-of-level bosses have health meters. Is it not obvious enough which was which?

I played through the levels, it took me six lives to beat the third level boss on normal. This game is pretty difficult. I liked it though! I posted a review of the Lite under the name Aznboii11.

I like the blood effects and how your enemies die. Even the kicks look cool! However, I'd like to be able to high kick/low kick and high punch/low punch in the next control scheme.

I like the current movement controls though. I dunno, maybe I'm just the black sheep of the family... :D

Hope I can get a promo!

If you're low on health, after avoiding the giant's initial splash attack, you can pick him apart without getting hit by using a flying kick, then jumping away. Or alternatively you can slug it out in close if you have enough health.

Level 3 is freakishly hard on expert setting, in large part because of an annoying midget acrobat that attacks you halfway through the stage.

If the upcoming 2.0 release does well enough to justify it, I plan to reengage the team of artists that did the new artwork, contract them to animate a few more attacks for the player, and also to complete a full set of combat animations for the princess herself as an unlockable character.

I'm open to any specific ideas people may have for more alternate, optional control schemes. But I've also gotten plenty of feedback from people (like yourself) that like the current default controls. And judging from the leaderboard there are numerous people that have mastered them.
