Love the show too. Can't believe I missed the new season premiere. Looking forward to playing the game.
Oops. Think I posted a reply to this to the wrong place. Hope I am forgiven. I've noticed that BFG seems to release first in Canada (maybe elsewhere as well but I'm not sure). It annoys my sis in the US because I'll be finishing up a game and she's only just bought it. It seems to be a gap of about a week or two. I don't understand why. Maybe we Canadians are guinea pigs for BFG to sort out glitches. I can think of at least two games with glitches - Witches Prison and 13th Skull. The updates didn't provide a fix and I had to delete and start again (which I have yet to do as there are too many new games now).
No, but the version I just finished up with was about 30% of the game, and there were a few issues, so I'd say probably end of this month earliest. Depends on how much time the developer is able to devote to the project right now.
It was released by Turner Broadcasting, so they may not have a license for UK release (I think this is a game from a kids television show).
I was thinking the same thing (about being based of a kids' show, I mean). I bought it, so I'll post some impressions when I've had a chance to play.
I loved the first Letters From Nowhere and am really looking forward to tackling part 2. I'm probably going to pass on Lost Souls because I actually have that one for the PC, and it would just be a waste of money for me to get the iOS version as well. I did start playing Legends Of Ooo, and it's definitely geared for kids, not only aesthetically but in terms of the puzzle content as well. Still, it's been amusing and it lets me play an adventure game without having to think too hard. For 99 cents it was worth it.
Real Crimes : Jack the Ripper was released on ipad by BFG this morning but it seems to have disappeared from the app store
I noticed Real Crimes and was going to ask you guys about it. Guess I don't need to worry about that any more BFG seems to be a bit unstable with their releases lately.
Still showing on Appshopper but not on the website and now they have released something else. Very strange
Is the other game Chicken Invaders? If you like Space Invaders clones, that's actually a pretty fun one (at least the PC version was).
SpaceVenutre Funded And just like that, you'll have a new game in early 2013 from the creators of Space Quest. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/spaceventure/two-guys-spaceventure-by-the-creators-of-space-que Also, you can view a playable prototype right now on your iPad here: http://guysfromandromeda.com/living-concept-art-phase-4/ But if you play it on your PC using the Chrome App Store, it'll have music too.
I've noticed a strange trend lately. People have been asking for walkthroughs on my site, and I check them out only to discover they're Android-only games. Are developers starting to ignore Apple bc it's easier (I assume) to publish on Android? Used to be Apple got all the best apps first.
It may be easier to publish on the Android store, but from what I understand it's much harder to develop for Android because of the fragmented OS. On the other hand, maybe developers have finally had enough of the fact that no one is willing to pay more than 99 cents for a game on the App Store, and it's so hard to get your game recognized because of the glut of bad titles that clogs everything up.
Unless you are doing high-end development (no middleware), I believe the cost of creation is very similar. In my experience Google Play (the Android app store) has just as much junk, if not more. It is much more like a wild west version of the App Store. Lots of scams, questionable apps, and questionable content. Google also has Amazon's App Store in direct competition with it. I think it is a difficult time for both stores-they have issues with developers making any income, very clogged stores with lots of apps of questionable value, and userbases that are very demanding. I would guess that big changes will come in the next couple of years.
I hope you're right. While I've certainly enjoyed this run of low to no priced software, in the end it's going to drive developers away. For more than 20 years console gamers have lived with game prices well beyond what iOS gamers pay, and while people have complained they dealt with it. Clearly consoles haven't disappeared despite the prices. It's great for Apple that they've got a high number of App Store entries to brag about, but that doesn't mean much when the overall quality of the contents is so low. Sadly, that won't change much until the prices become more realistic for people to make a living at it.
I dunno, do you really think those who are creating quality games and selling them for a buck are having trouble making a living? What about Fire Maple Games and Omgpop? I think they did pretty well for themselves, especially Omgpop being bought out by Zynga. The reason people expect to pay little for their iPhone games is that most of them only last a few hours at the most. The longer ones are usually ports which many already paid for on other systems. For instance, Broken Sword -- I wasn't gonna pay $4.99 (and definitely not $20!) to play the same game on my phone, but for 99 cents I did. I also would like to see more developers step up and use the cloud if they want to be taken seriously. Out of all the games that have come and gone on my phone, the only ones that use the cloud for save data are Infinity Blade 2, Monster Wars and Swordigo. That's pathetic. And it limits us severely in terms of what we can buy and fit on our devices. I'm always having to make that choice of what to delete to make room for something new, and it almost always means losing that data for good. And don't forget all the sub-par free games making money on IAPs from all these people who like buying their way through games instead of playing them.
