this is for the hardware . . . mac versus windows running pcs (dell, hp etc.)

but maybe there should also be a poll of windows vs. linux. vs. OSX 10.5

    Mac.

PC is so slow I can't handle it. The only thing it's good for is jailbreaking your iDevice.

Don't want to start any sort of argument, but I don't mind little jokes at all.

There are far worse things out there...

    Mac!!!!!!!!

    17inch Macbook Pro Uni

    Macbook Air 1st gen

    Macbook blk 1g

    iPhone 3g 8g

    iPhone pink 2g 8g (girlfriend)

    iPod nano 8g

    iPod nano 1st gen 4g

I came in late to the mac world because those colored macs were just to ugly to even consider, when I did I was very happy with how easy there interfaces and OS's are to use. Not to mention Apple Store's customer service (not itunes). You know when buying mac products, that they will be compatible with future technology for years.

I just wish they wouldn't come out with new junk every year.

    Case in point:
I bought one of those smaller square-like ipods not even a year before they released the chromatic line. aarrrggg!!!!

yes but as a mod perhaps he should exercise more of a subjective attitude considering he represents not only himself but also this site.

I'm not saying what he said was rude, and I'm certainly not suggesting his intentions were ill mannered by posting.

I'm just saying as a mod if your posting obscure, non-related posts some may see that as spam or even worse take offense.

    Amiga!

    ;)

Seriously though...I mainly use the computer for creative software, so I have to go with a Mac on this one as that was what I was trained on when I was learning the "modern" creative tools.

Besides, if we're looking at hardware only...a Mac can run OS X, Windows, Linux, BSD, etc. without need for hacking. It runs those things stock. Can't do that on IBM compatible PCs (I don't call them Windows PCs...never got used to that). Well, you can...but you'd have to run a hack of OS X, which is just friggin' time consuming.

    ...

Seriously though...Amiga. Those were actually the computers I was trained on when I first learned creative stuff. God I loved that hardware. Video and photo editing, games...there wasn't much that nifty hardware couldn't do, and if there was, you could just buy an extra hardware bit to boost performance to greater heights. And it all ran fairly butter smooth. Says a lot that it took almost a near decade for Macs and PCs to catch up to that sort of performance in creative suites, and even now there are still people who use Amiga computers for art.

I was making reference to the polls I've created for people in the past when they've made threads and forgotten to add the poll options. I always include a non-related option for people who like voting in polls but don't really feel strongly about the choices available. ;)

Sorry if I have offended anyone with my pro-pizza agenda. My love of pepperoni pizza in no way reflects the food tastes of Touch Arcade. Any resemblance to the tastes of Touch Arcade and pepperoni pizzas, frozen or fresh, is purely coincidental.

    BEHOLD!:

Newtek Video Toaster 4000 on Amiga 4000

Yeah...it seems somewhat laughable now, but this was back in '94. How long did it take for Final Cut or Premiere to have half of that stuff? And some of the stuff that was easy as cake on a Video Toaster is kind of a pain in the ass on Final Cut even now.
