I might (good possibility) send him a pm on YouTube or here or an email. He'd definetly implement what he could, even if it had to wait for an update. And I second what TheFamousEccles said.
+1 again. I'll go on his forums and see how hard a 3rd Person Perspective would be. Maybe he could get it into N.R. even. That'd be sweet!
You're not allowed to release this until I finish Necromancer Rising! Don't worry, folks - I'm tearing away at NR at a fairly good clip! Thank you for swipe to look BTW - I really didn't mind the former controls, but this is much, much better! Sometimes I think I confuse the UI/touch interface though - thumb moving, right finger looking around, left thumb fires a holy bolt, look around some more, another bolt or to goes off, then thumb down to move - now I can't look around anymore until I let go for a moment... Awesome game, I'm looking forward to any others made with this engine!
I decided I'll PM him tomorrow. I already have the day off (they already cancelled school for tomorrow!), so I'll send it in the afternoon or so.
Ok, even though all I've played from NR is the lite version, I am officially on board the "keeping an eye on this game" wagon.
Lol, yeah, good choice. It's really awesome to see how many people are really keeping an eye on this... I can't wait until it hits the beta stage.
UPDATE!!!!! We have some new videos I found on Soul Dragoon's youtube page. Here they are: I'll update the front page.
Wow found the thread sorry guys =).. Now another one to keep up with ;P Got a new video showing how the new collision system is allowing some real flexibility in level design its all over the place now no more flatness... I also have a going list on the necromance forums for ME design ideas so I can build and keep a list! Here is a link: To the M.E. forum threads http://necromancerrising.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6&sid=6947e85a8a918ebb18f9a603c7cee557 and the current albeit short list I am going to try to flesh out more!.. http://necromancerrising.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=103 I am transferring the design doc to the forums..
Heavily updated the living design doc http://necromancerrising.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=103&p=583#p583
Nice I like all of that a lot! Do you need any help with power ideas? Haha noticed that they were all empty...
Ok sweet. I'm really glad you're going to have guns use ammo instead of energy. It'll be nice to not be all the way tied down to the energy. Also, I think you should do 3rd person in towns. It'd be pretty hard to do in the fighting areas, but it'd be nice to be able to see my whole player. Also, in the UI, you should have one menu thing that's Skills only and one that's only weapons and one that's just for Items. That would help clean it up some. Weapons- Brings up your sublevel weapon groups. Rifles, Shotguns, High Energy, etc. Then you chose the specific group, like rifles. It brings up all of your rifles and the ammo you have. If it's more specific you can have more room to work with and a picture of the rifle at the bottom with your 5 diff. rifles up above for selection. You get what I mean? I could do a simple file in Adobe Fireworks and send it to you if you want that'll show you what I mean. It may seem like it might not be as convenient to have to go a little deeper into the menu system to get to a weapon, but it would simplify and make it a nicer experience.
A diagram would help. I still kind of like the less complex model I had in mind -10 buttons where ever you want on screen. -8 are abilities / guns / usable items -1 Is FLIP which flips to the second stack of abilities / guns / usable items -1 IS Fire current weapon. -So in the menu drag from inventory guns/abilities/usable items into the slots you want (very simple and really open to many configurations by users ). -In game you want to : -Change guns: Press the gun button it will switch to new gun -Fire: Press the always there fire button. -Use Ability: Press ability slot and it uses darkens and timer starts -Use Item: Press slot and uses it. There will be a zillion weapons in game with the systems I have all that look different. They may have a base of plasma but the effects on them make it a different gun the only thing that ties them together is ammo types. What do you think?
All I can say is that I can wait even less for this game now... How much longer until beta? I'm dying to test this one... And is there any way we could add our own attachments/perks to guns? That extra bit of customization goes a long way (which I realized more than ever after playing the 40th Day... half the fun of that game is making your own guns). So maybe we could find/buy a basic rifle which we could add our own scope and reload perk (like sleight of hand in COD4), then be able to fix up the condition, sending it from a "decrepit" weapon to a an "angelic" (or whatever it was) weapon. I know there will be different discriptions since this is a totally different game, but I think you get the point. It gives it that extra RPG edge without removing any of the action.
Very good sir..excellent! My original intent with Necro was to not have schematics for whole items. Only their parts. Then use the parts you make to make the items.. I like it... Update DD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Item creation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My original intent with Necro was to not have schematics for whole items. Only their parts. Then use the parts you make to make the items.. I like it... So : Level 30 : Devastating Berserker Plasma Saw of the Insane Currently means: Level 30: Uses more then level 1 but not sure yet how much more Devastating = Butt of gun model Berserker = Barrel model Plasma Saw = Uses Plasma Ammo and is a rifle Insane = Muzzle model So I will make it to where you pick up a Devastating Butt, Berserker Barrel, Plasma Saw Main Unit (chamber), and an insane Muzzle. In a create window of course create the weapon... very easy with my systems. I would not allow you to add it to your existing weapon as in WOW you could get crazy awesome really quick instead of making a choice to go with what you have. As far as armor creation it would be a: Devastating Berserker Helmet of Insanity You would first find parts IE (or full pieces) Devastating Unit= energy unit (use it in creaion to add devistating to an item) Berserker Unit = energy unit (use it in creaion to add Berserker to an item) Helmet Unit = A helmet with an empty socket. Up to 3. Insanity Unit = energy unit (use it in creaion to add Insanity to an item) After you add a piece it cannot be taken back out but by a random disassemble.
Lol... a Devastating Butt... you may want to reword that... Maybe stock instead? That's what they called it in the 40th Day (yes, I keep referencing that game. It had the best customization ever. EVER. No other game let you use a screwdriver for a bayonett and have a golden Desert Eagle with a soda can silencer). I think people would keep laughing if you called it a "Butt". In fact, every time I read the words "Devistating Butt" I crack up. But either way, I like the system. Will the gun models look different depending on the pieces you use or is it more of a stat thing? And by Saw, I'm guessing you're talking about the SAW Heavy Machine Gun? But a plasma version instead of the regular bullet-firing one. Sick. And I'm definitely liking this customization thing you have going here. From the sounds of it, no two guns will be the same.
Correct all models are constructed by pieces base on their names and their icons the same. That is already done in Necro. If only I did not have to have the day job ;P it would be here 2x as fast ;P.. Could you actually make the entire gun and your whole armor set in the other game? Did it look different? You will have : Weapons: 10 diff possible mods (ex. devastating stock) x 10 diff possible mods (ex. devastating barrel) x 10 diff possible mods (ex. devastating breech) x (?20?) types of weapons(plasma saw) x 5 conditions tints x 5 tiers = 500,000 different Weapons / icons.. just for the gun Boy I wish I had the dev money 40th day had and the man power ...
Oh lol the 40th Day is an Xbox 360/PS3 game made by EA. You'll never get that manpower lol. But yeah, when you edit parts of the gun it's visible, as well as different colors for your guns. For example, I took a basic shotgun, changed the stock, added a metal plate shield, and a shotgun bayonett (which looks a bit like a silencer), and made it all gold. It looked completely different from when I got the original gun. But I never expect you to get a creation system like that since you're a one man team. What you have now is awesome, I was just using that game as a comparison thing. It definetly sounds like it compete in terms of depth though, we'll just have to wait and see.... dum dum dum...
Pretty much what I have besides spray paint and that could be done also.. That maybe how I treat armor. BUT.. I have to work in compressed textures in a VERY tricky way as their is so little data on the PVRTC compression scheme I had to reverse engineer it so I could construct textures via memcpys. Pretty fast though because I do not have to recompress it
