I know there's a thread exactly like this but unlike that thread my price limit is $1200 Need a desktop/laptop that can play games fluidly So Ideas/advice?
Do you really need to move about? You'll get much better specs with a desktop than you would a laptop of the same price.
I was about to say that you could get a fast desktop good for gaming for under 1k (if you owned a monitor already) but if you want to play good games with a laptop then it's going to cost you much more *cringes*
That's what I'm debating on. I need a device that will atleast get me through college and commute btwn classes without being a burden.
Well now you mention it, yeah... I prefer the laptop + console combo and just ignoring PC games altogether. I just assumed that for RandomSomebody PC games were a must... and so at the moment a desktop would do it better.
Yes a pc is a must. I already owned a 360 but it became useless when I started using my pc (which died last week) for gaming.
Alright then, you've got to make a choice: Do I want a laptop that'll get me through college? OR Do I want a laptop that'll play Crysis on medium setting? There's sadly no laptop that'll fulfill either scenario.
Buy a Mac! (sorry couldn't resist) I agree with others, if gaming is one of the most important features for you, you're better off with a desktop. And find someone who knows what they're doing, and just build one. I'd never buy a desktop PC straight from a store, when you could build one exactly how you want it for cheaper and without loads of crap loaded on it. Laptops are totally the way to go, IMO, but if you want one for gaming it'll cost you a lot. LOL @ Kamazar, he pretty much summed it up.
It's unfixable believe me I tried to get it fixed. I would have to replace the motherboard, the processor, and the hard drive just to get working again. It would be cheaper just to buy a new computer.
Agreed. I have one and I love it. Haven't ever looked back at PC since I switched (thank god for CrossOver)
Save up another 300 bucks and do this (what I did and I love it)... 1. Buy Macbook Pro 13" for college, perfect, great return policy plus for regular games, just run bootcamp for only pc games. Runs fine, cant tell much of a difference IMO 2. Buy a 1 tb western digital EH (or two for extra security) for 100 bones each to keep all your music and games and shit so you dont have to draf a slow comp around to your classes. 3. Buy an Xbox 360 bundle on craigslist for like 200 bucks with a package of games. Best way to go, online is much better on console than PC or Mac. Plus cool stuff coming out to 360 not available on computers. Plus cheaper and then if your computer fries like what happened to you, you dont lose games, docs, music, and everything (plus if you keep your warrentee, apple products get fixed way quicker than pc products when you send them in). IDK, I am just having much more luck this way and feel much more comfortable. Good luck.
I honestly saw a 360 going for $30 craigslist. I have no idea what he was selling it for so cheap, but there's always good deals around the $150 range. Just make sure you actually try out the console when you go pick it up.
Again like I said I already owned a 360 but give it my nephew(ironicly right before my computer died) and I'm not willing to pay a yearly fee just play games online when I can play them online on a pc for free (also playing them on a pc is so much better).
Can's say I agree with pc online better but you can still do that running bootcamp on the mac just fine.
